Re: $500 trucks are still out there

The tank is still a no go. I didn't blow out the line from the tank to the pump and I am going to try that, but I'm almost positive the sender is not sucking much if anything out of the tank and that's not something I can get today. I am desperately wanting to drive this thing around and I can't get very far on a bowl full of gas, so I picked up about 15' of fuel line and viola:

So also for the first time in over 20 years, it moved under its own power. Granted it was only from the side of the house to the front, but it's a step forward none the less.

I don't know why, but I really like this shot:

No brakes, radiator still spewing like a geyser and the clutch needs adjusted (back) but it still moved. I'm happy for today.

No I haven't. Do you know where it is? I've heard of one out towards Linn or Westphalia or somewhere around there that was supposed to have a lot of old stuff but never been and not exactly sure where it is.

Since I don't have a tripod for my phone, had to wait for the wife to get home to get a video:

copy and paste that link, should be driving directions from Eldon to the yard. I'm pretty sure they're only open on weekdays, maybe weekends by appointment. But I'd always call ahead and let them know when you want to come out and what you might be looking for. I, personally, have had hit and miss experiences with them. Sometimes they're super nice and let you roam around the yard, and its MASSIVE. But other times they take you to the exact car they want you to take parts from and stand right behind you the whole time. Definitely worth the trip and bring your camera.

Awesome! When I was at Fort Leonard Wood I searched craigslist for two years and never saw a deal like that, great find!

I wondered how long it was going to take for someone to mention that. it's another CL find from last summer, oddly enough it was also $500 and has a similar story. It's an 84 200es someone had been scavenging for parts. I put a new carb, battery and front tire on it and in true Honda fashion now starts right up and is a ton of fun!

Excellent find....that looks like a whole lot of truck for the money!

My dad just picked up a $500 72 that was setting for a while and is already driving it around. He ALWAYS finds the deals somehow.

That truck reminds me of when I got my 66 and two 64's...the fun of getting them to run again and then drive them makes a man's day. lol Hey are you gonna maybe spruce up that 6 banger? Maybe give it the treatment I gave mine? lol

I saw it and knew it was a 200. I had a 250 Big Red that was great also. It was stolen a couple of years ago, they stripped it and all I recovered was the frame. One day I'll put it back together again.

I kind of doubt it, but that does look great! My goal is to get it road worthy enough to drive it to Branson in August for the car show and cruise they have each year. I'm not going to enter it, but do what to cruise around in it.

Re: $500 trucks are still out there

Thanks for compliments! Today I revisited the fuel system. I pulled the sender back out, blew air through the tank to pump line and for about 2 or 3 seconds I heard nothing, then a pop, splat, squish and saw the underhood area and inner fender had a nice coating of varnish, then the sound of air flowing through the line. The tank pickup was another story. I tried blowing off the screen, then blowing air back through it. A big dust cloud at first then still nothing. It was completely plugged up.

The offender:

At this point I'm not ready to drop coin on a whole new assembly and I don't really care if the fuel gauge works or not yet so I pulled the screen off and went to the parts store. Not a perfect match for length, but it did fit the tube and do the job:

Put the sender back in tank, hooked everything up and fired it up. Success! I can now rid myself of the optional bed mounted 3 gallon auxiliary fuel tank.
