Re: ..Back'em Up Lights..Law?

While we're on back-up lights in 67-72s, Mine have always worked in my '72. It's a K2500 with TH350. Well, now for some reason, they come on when in neutral and not when in reverse. I've never had this happen before. What would I adjust to fix that? Is it a wear issue?

What you got was a stamped aluminum piece that screwed on like the lens.
I have the tail light lenses for that Corvair, $40 shipped...No inspections in Nebraska either.

Tim, it's a simple switch adjustment on the column under the dash. Place the shifter in "R" and adjust the switch accordingly...

Re: ..Back'em Up Lights..Law?

Mine weren't working when I bought my truck. I pulled the bulbs, tested them and they were both good. Okay tried to jump the neutral safety switch at the bottom of the steering column and between my old eyes and the low light couldn't get the connection right. Said to hell with it and ordered a new neutral safety switch which I haven't installed yet and the truck is in storage for the Winter. If the new switch doesn't work I'll keep looking as has been mentioned in this thread, if its on the truck I want it to work properly. I just looked on the Inspection Sheet from 2008 when I imported my 1999 Tahoe from California and it shows back-lights on the Inspection Sheet so I guess if the are supposed to work during the Inspection.

In Saskatchewan we have no annual mechanical or emission inspections for any vehicle. However if you bring a vehicle into Saskatchewan from somewhere else you have to have a mechanical inspection before it can be registered. The nice thing here is any vehicle 30 years old or older does not need any type of inspection if if brought in from out of Province. Lastly a cop can pull you over and send ANY vehicle ( even the 30 year and older ones ) for a mechanical inspection and he/she does not have to justify why.

Thanks. I wondered if it was that. Not sure how it changed on me. Dark early, gotta have them

In Maryland, we have to get a safety inspection before registering anytime the vehicle changes ownership (title name change). No inspections whole time you own a vehicle. We can get an inspection ticket for anything an officer observes and we get 30 days to get that one thing fixed and signed off by an inspection station or state police. 20 years for historic plates, which require no inspections.

That's pretty cool. I just picked up a 65 Monza convertible, never even noticed what back up lights it has (or doesn't have).

Re: ..Back'em Up Lights..Law?

Guys I appreciate the replies but I see where I made a mistake to begin with that I should have mentioned..I have a 67 "StepSide" and they could have been easily knocked off or omitted long ago..Completely different situation than the fleetside..I know i can buy them but
...I may not want to..lol

I really kind of like the original reverse light setup on the early StepSides! Most of them I see now don't have any original rear lights and that is a bummer.

Re: ..Back'em Up Lights..Law?

I have original back-ups, but the mounts for the lenses and for the sockets have rusted out.
