I was wondering, did your drop kit include spindles or was it just springs and shocks?

Also do you have any parts left from your donor trucks you want to sell. I'm looking for bumper brackets (front & back). thanks.

Wade
Thanks Wade. I just used springs and shocks to lower it. I will look for the brackets. I might have some.

Thanks for looking in. I got the bed all bolted down, fuel door installed, fuel tank mounted back in and the rear wheels put on. I hope to take it and have the frontend aligned this week and finish the exhaust.

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

I like the smaller box , as it looks less intrusive . But just to mess with your head , what about painting it the same colour as the arches .

Thanks a lot Martin. I knew someone would put that idea out there. I looked for a steel box that I could paint gray to match but could not find one I liked. Not to sure if the paint will stick that well to tread plate aluminum.

Thanks DKO. Yes it is. I am about ready for a cruise maybe next week. Also decided to use this box for now as it was not to expensive.

Man I haven't checked your build in a while. It looks awesome. I love the way the paint brings it together.

Thanks Eric. I got the bumper installed. Still need to fab some outer brackets. I modified the inside ones so the bumper would sit closer to the truck.

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

truck looks beautiful Donny... I think the diamond plate accents the polished strips and looks good until you figure out a permanent solution. Did you secure it to the floor somehow, sure wouldn't want it moving around.

nice job, time to enjoy the fruits...

Thanks Clem. And yes I just ran bolts thorough the bottom where some bolts held down the strips. And put rudder strips between box and stainless strips.

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

Thanks guys for all the positive comments. And all the help that I have received on this forum. I can't tell you how many questions I have had answered on here that helped with my build. It is slowly coming to and end I am taking in in the morning for a frontend alignment and finish the exhaust. Then it will get a small road trip to see how everything works.

I am going to paint the GMC letters and the border circle gray. Then the rest silver. I still have a lot to do on the gate. It had just been sand blasted so I need to weld up some holes and body work.

Thanks Martin. It might not be the best body work and paint but like you said it is very satisfying knowing that I did it myself.

Not sure about you brother, but I am my own worst critic...
You are doing an amazing job and the Tailgate will be the icing on the cake...
