Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Thanks Monte! I wish I would have known so I could have put a face with a name.

I didn't take it through to judge as there were to many with detailed engine bays and frames to even consider doing that.

One of my favorite shows to attend.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

My neighbor liked your truck as well. I didn't get down there I went to see friends in Iowa last weekend. I wish I would have though. I need to go to a show and meet up with a couple more board members. I think I've only met 3 so far. I live one town over from one, and I haven't met him yet.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Okay guys... well just to get it out there, I'm going to throw up the beginning and end shots of my most recent update to the truck. As many know, following the addition of our son to the family, time has become a premium in our household hold lately. The rebuild was finished up approximately 1 month before he arrived but with planning and preparing for his arrival, I had to knock this out in a hurry. Hope you like the addition.

For those not knowing, this is a 6 cyl tach to run with my 250 I-6 stock engine.

We went from this:

Re: Project: Blank Slate

I am currently finishing up a FAQ covering the complete removal, rebuild and installation of the tash dash and harness. Keep your eye on the build thread for the link as it will cover everything you will need to do this for your truck, blazer, or burb.

We actually headed down to a local car show last weekend and needless to say, running a 250 w/ 2spd powerglide, and what we believe to be 4:11 gearing... the truck was turning 4k on the tach. No joke!

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Wow! that tach looks great! That's crazy you had that puppy wound up to 4K. What speed is that? Too bad you don't have a 4 speed auto.....but then you wouldn't be very original.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Unfortunately.... that was while I was running 65 MPH according to the speedo. I believe that since I added the Vintecs, the speedo is off by atleast 5 MPH overall.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Actually I found a complete 6 cyl tach dash, tore it down, blasted the tins, replaced the 6 cyl tach I had with one I had already purchased, and the started the rebuild. New lense and bezel, new tach harness and we were off to the races.

Not to toot my own horn, but just like this build thread, I tried to cover every aspect of the install. Unfortunately after writing it... I'm too lazy to post it here.
