Just bought this wheel/cap with horn guts for $50 shipped off the board...have a nicer cap I'll put on after I fix the cracks and paint it....possibly a metallic or candy red I'm thinking if I go with the satin black....Thinking I'll do red door panels, wheel, and maybe glovebox door...

there was a thread about that. some epoxy from home depot. i was guna get it but i had to special order it... and it was guna cost me like double for them to ship it to my local home depot.

Why not jb weld or similar (we use pc7 from hardware store bigger and cheaper)..

Hey Jonathon. Just seen your new build thread tonight. Looks like a good start on your new project, you have enough spare parts to build a truck, so it should not be any problem for you to find anything you need for this one. I will have to come see you and see if you have got in anything I can use since I seen you last. I finished the 72 now starting on my 70. I vote for the teal it looked cool, but I am very colored blind.

The one thing I did decide is since I have 11 tach dashes currently in varying states of completion....that I would take one of my rougher tins and use the existing gauges (since they are all in nice shape and the odometer is original to the truck and accurate) and add a tach to it. IF I bag it...I might use an air pressure gauge I have. Otherwise I might use a vacuum gauge to monitor engine vacuum since it's cool and I have five of them right now and a few extra tach/vac tins lying around

It of course is your truck, but I think I agree with the slippery slope. I guess if I had as many parts as you, I may think differently, but you've had better platforms to go nuts on.
I would keep it cheap, and a shop truck junker. Just my 2 cents. No trying to offend.
Also, take a pic of a vac gauge, never seen one in these trucks before. And which hole do they go in.

Your build has motivated me to do a similar truck the next time I build one. This making them real shinny and pretty and being afraid to drive them or park them anywhere is getting old. Im looking forward to seeing your forward progress on this one.

I totally get it. No offense taken! I will not make this into a show truck. My main temptation is bagging it and putting 20's on it....but unless I find a KILLER deal on some 20's, I'll stick with the rims on it, dress them up with paint and some cool caps, and get some nice used or new tires on it...

Keith (lolife99) shipped out his black floor mat from his build he replaced with carpet. It's not a perfect fit according to him, but looked decent in the pictures to me and will be fine for this build and a lot better than no flooring at all

I simply sprayed some citrus pb blaster on it, let it set for 15 minutes...then hit it with my pressure washer. The last truck I rebuilt I did this and then used a wire wheel to get it down to bare, clean metal before painting. I still might do that with this one when I install the new lowering springs later....

Thinking of selling the complete 70 front clip or selling the grille and parts separate and then putting a 67 front end on it....I have MOST of the pieces....any suggestions???

This would be an even or positive cash flow swap. I will remove the front clip one way or the other since the inner fenders need work or replacing, and the front fenders both need cup and rear patches or replacing...and the rad support needs a patch on both lower corners or replacing....

The 70 outer grille is super nice. The inner does have one cracked area and it's missing which I didn't notice at first glance so there's not much value there. But the outer polished up would be show quality. I think it's worth 300 (would pay it myself if looking for one)

I have a hood, nice grille complete with latch and center support, headlight bezels, and a 68 driver's side fender (will fill the light). Just need a passenger fender and a core support which I already have on the way from a prior parts deal. So it's really just a fender used or repop I need to make the 67 front end...

My outer is all scratched up from hoses and cords around it all the time. I may be able to remove some, if not I may be interested in yours if it's better than mine...

Okay, but you know as well as me, that when that happens...the "might-as-wells" start jumping out at ya, then you'll have it all apart, shaving the firewall, and then...etc!!!

J/k Jonathan...I know whatever you do, it'll be nice...plus that front clip is an easy removal....my new motto is if I can't put it in the garage on Friday and have it driving by the following Monday....I'm not gonna do it (BUT Jesse has to remind me of that.....ALOT!!!!!)
