Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Thread size I use is 138 for these. All my thread is polyester, holds up to UV.

This is black symphony vinyl. Its darker and not as flat of a finish as the Whisper.

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Quote:
If your not doing a seam on it, wrap it over the top and bottom. For the sides if you tried just folding it over youll find a bunch of excess material, What youll want to do is make a cut right in the middle of the side, get rid of any excess material and butt the two edges up together. That way youll get rid of the excess and allow you to lay the material flat without wrinkles. The sides will be hidden.(If I do one without a french seam Ill post a pic to show what I mean). Then glue your material over the edges on to the backside and trim any excess. When I do it with a french seam I make the cover so it will conform over the dash. So no need to do that to the sides. Hope that helps. |

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
You gotta find an upholstery supplier for the glue, either online or somewhere local.

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Thanks. Im still learning. Havent even scratched the surface of what I want to do yet. Ill be working on some seats coming up soon, gonna pick up a set of racing seats and chop the tops down, reshape the foam. I think Ill cover them in black leather. Basically do them the way I want. Theyll be a one off set. Once I finish those Ill be taking orders for custom seats also.
For now panels, dashes, consoles is what Im doing. Anything that can be shipped to be custom covered. |

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
The last pic in post 16, can you incorporate something like that into a door panel and maybe something on the dash were the band is?

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Visors. Not my favorite thing to do, No really... I hate doing visors. But Ill still do them and theyll be higher quality than repo ones. Unless you want higher quality than repo, I would just go repo because my price wont be near what a new set costs. Also take note of how the edges are on my visors, I dont bind them like the factory, so if your looking for factory match go repo.

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Anyone ever interested in something like this, let me know. Youd have to make me a template for your dash, since I have no c10 here. Way nicer than those funky carpet, velour ones.

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Anyone unsure if cracks and dents can be fixed on their pad, this is what I do before I wrap. I dont just lay material over imperfections, I repair the cracks and fill any dents or imperfections before wrapping. Also gets scuffed with 80 grit for good adhesion.
Also getting a set of visors next week, with arms I can paint up and include. Im only doing them in black. If anyone wants to reserve them let me know, and Ill get you a price. |

Re: Dash Pad- Covered With French Seam
Sorry, still trying to get my stock colors down. I know it was stock material that was sent with the pad, wasnt sure on the exact color. Is there a link to a color chart or something for interior colors? would come in handy for me.
