Re: My 79 Build...

Small update today. Went to the salvage yard and picked up some grey seat belts, cab corner speaker brackets, and vent visors. Not a bad score for $20.00. Gonna clean the belts up and paint the plastics black. Gonna paint the brackets black and the visors as well. Here's a few picks for now....

Went ahead and painted these...

Re: My 79 Build...

Got a little more accomplished today since the wife is out Christmas shopping. Got the retractor on both sides painted and put in. I think they came out pretty good. Got the speaker brackets painted and I'll put them up for later on when I do the stereo in the truck.

Re: My 79 Build...

Went this weekend and picked up a few more parts at the local junk yard for mine and a friends truck. Got two clocks, two gauge cluster lenses, window cranks, and a tailgate band. Scored all of it for $10.00. Definetly worth an hour and a half in the cold. Got the clock installed but still have to wire it up. Gonna put the window cranks in when I get my new door panels. Will get the tailgate band cleaned up and put on in the next week or so. On to the pics. Also test fit my vent visors just to see how they were gonna look. Didnt want to drill holes yet.

Re: My 79 Build...

Haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd at least show the drivers side door panel I finished up last night. Looks alot better I think. May try and knock out the passenger tonight...

Re: My 79 Build...

Well. As usual it has taken me forever with everything I've had going on to get anything done on the truck. Got to work on it for a while last night. Finished up my door panels and changed the tailgate band out to the newer style one. Holes for it didn't line up so I took the guts out of the 79 band and put them behind the later model band. All in all I'm happy with the way the panels and the band turned out. Hopefully I'm gonna be posting some progress with the truck. We're having a baby in October and I'm hoping to get the parts that I have stock piled at the house put on before then. We'll see.

Re: My 79 Build...

I also picked up this DeeZee behind the seat storage box. Found it on the side of the road. Repainted it and got a key made for it.

Re: My 79 Build...

Made a little more progress with the truck yesterday. Got the A/C recharged. It's got a leak but we added dye so that we can track it down. There's just something about riding into work on a friday morning in a 32 year old truck and the A/C is blowing snow balls. Also got my seat belts buttoned up. The drivers side shoulder belt wouldn't pull out. Shimed it to where the pendulum sat right in it and now everything is ready. Doesn't sound like much but I'm excited to be getting some things fixed. Gonna get it back in the shop today and take the bumper gaurds off the front bumper, remove the trailer hitch, and get the timing set.

Re: My 79 Build...

I got most of it at R and J on Bethel Rd. Take 251 south out of Ardmore down to Bethel Grocery and take a right. The yard will be just down on the left. Good luck man.

That's great man.

Would you mind giving me a favor?

I have a clock that works perfectly, but one of the hour hands is missing. If you want to sell one of them let me know.

thank you,

Re: My 79 Build...

It's funny that you just replied to this tonight. The truck has been out of comission for a while. The carb crapped on me and a friend rebuilt it for me. It's one of those things where it wasn't right the first time so we took it back off. Well tonight is the first chance we've had to mess with the old truck but we got it back runing tonight and took it for a spin aroind the neighborhood. Runs great. Gonna drive it to work tomorrow in hopes that we can get it on a lift and get the p/s lines changed on it. Fingers crossed. I've neglected to work on this truck for so long that I have a pile of parts that need to go on it. Thanks for the kind words guys.
