Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

Ok update..

I installed a brass disc drum prop. vavle, thinking it would be the fix..

Wrong, They still hang, I really need to fix this before I put new shoes/rotors on for the 3rd time..rediclous!

I DONT bench bleed my MC before installation is it THAT important (already bled again, duh stupid!)

And, whats the button at the front of the Mc do?

I pulled Mc from booster, and still have pressure on the calipers

I run DOT 3 Brake fluid, 1 can said synthetic, 1 didnt say anything, just DOT 3

HELP!!

I always bleed my MC before putting them on, the button is suposed to be pushed in while bleeding. If you have a old shop manual it will describe in detail.....

How old are the rubber lines?

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

New braided lines from ECE, made by inlinetube

I didnt use the button/bench bleed

Is it that important???

Gotta be bad calipers, bad mc? (thats what my gf's dad keeps saying?) Or calipers/rotors not compatible

Pretty sure there is 2 diff. sized rotors 1.25" and 1" thick rotors, are ther diff. calipers for each rotor diameter? Thanks guys im at my wits end

No old shop manual here but will google

Bench bleeding is very important.

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

The calipers have to match the rotor width, and diameter.
The stock rotors are all the same diameter.

Can youu run through your disc brake swap from the beginning?
Or was it this way when you got the truck?

When I do a disc brake swap from 6-lug, to 5-lug,... I always just use new parts.
M/C, Prop valve, hoses, calipers and rotors.
Which parts are new, that you put on?

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

I swapped to disc about 1 year after I bought the truck

So If i orderd rotors/calipers for 71 chevy truck c10 they all match no worries about getting wrong width?

Ok, Im going thru my reciepts now (running #'s on internet website from store)

Brake calipers-Orielly 1970 c10

advance-booster 1971 chevy c10

advance-brake master cyclinder-correct MC for 71 c10 (pic matches mine also, so does part number

prop. valve (brass aftermarket disc drum)

brake fluid-DOT 3 Synthetic (does synthetic matter?)

calipers- (Cant find reciept)

Advance rotors- 71 c10

hoses-replaced all 3 thru ECE, they get em thru inline tube. Inline tube ticket says 'drum drum'. ECE ticket says 67-70 disc drum conversion So idk there?

autozone pads-71 c10

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

Oh, Just thought of something else..

My prop valve has 2 ports for the front brakes Im assuming to run 2 lines one to left front wheel other to right front wheel

I plugged 1 port and ran 1 line to a T that went to each front wheel

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

Plugging one front port is fine.
Your above description says:
Oreillys Calipers 1970
They didn't have calipers on trucks in 1970, so that must be a typo.
Then below that you say you can't find the caliper reciept.

Re: Brakes sticking a lil do I have right prop. valve and adj. on brake rod?

Yeah, sorry

I dont know the year or the calipers...

I asked the guy at the parts house if there was 2 diff. size rotors, he said no just 1 ugh

I know for a fact just front left, but think both fronts, will get exact facts tomorow after church..

Calipers-Unknown what they fit..
Everything else is correct (71/72chevy c10)

Someone told me start from caliper and go up checking for fluid by cracking a a line somewhere to see if it releases pressure?...Idk,,thanks guys
