My wheel guy basically loaned it to me.

Re: 55 Fleetside Restomod

here are some fresh photos. Got the frame rails blasted, boxed and painted. Welded in a new crossmember and got the new axle hung. The new wheels showed up and got them mounted and balanced. Some rear brake and fuel plumbing to do and I'll be running again.

Re: 55 Fleetside Restomod

Wow, those DO look great! Now I'm wondering how big i can go under mine. It is an LQ4/4l85e too with a Ford 8.8 rearend in it. C4 Corvette up front.

If i can afford it (and I probably can't) I'm gonna use Billet Specialties Legacy or Mag G wheels (blems if i can find them). If I can't, then Coy C5's. I don't usually like wheels over 17's on older vehicles but admit yours look fantastic! Congrats.

They are custom made by a smallish company called American legend. Still spendy but not near as bad as some of the others custom builders. They even lent me that wheel fit tool and were on my porch in 6 weeks. Tires are continental extreme contact dws06. 255/35r20 front and 315/35r20 rear.

Somehow forgot to post these pictures. I went with Dakota Digital HDX gauges. So sweet! Kinda lucked out on the timing and got 1 in October when the weren't really available yet.

Re: 55 Fleetside Restomod

N123DY,
I apologize if I'm asking questions about info you've already posted. I went back through your thread and maybe i just missed it.

- What happened to your intention to use th C4 IRS? I went with a live rear axle on my build too but I'm wondering why you switched to the four link?
- Can you tell me what your wheel mount flange-to-flange distance is and the back spacing on those wheels?
- I don't plan on using 20's - though yours look GREAT. But I still want wide rears and I'm wondering if my Mustang 8.8 rearend will allow them without tubbing? Will your bed need to be tubbed?

Great build. Really enjoying following along. - Dan

Hey Dan,
Don't think I posted it but I certainly don't mind the questions. My original /"plan to run the c4 irs burned down pretty quick when I spoke to my local c4 guru and told him how much horsepower I was planning on. The old zr-1 only had 400ish horsepower so at 650 it was questionable whether even a dana 44 irs would cut it. At that point I decided to find a good used 12 bolt and found one out of a 67 chevelle with the triangulated 4 link setup intact. That was the plan until the $9000 flat. When that loaner corvette tire got ruined it was either buy a $200 temporary tire or buy new permanent wheels and tires. I'd been running around on the stock 6 bolt rear axle with little pizza cutter tires, so when i decided to buy wheels I had to go get the rear axle to match the bolt patterns. I planned to graft the chevelle 4 link into my frame. When I went to the old guy with the 12 bolt he balked a bit and started calling around to other parts guys and decided he needed about $1500 for the axle instead of the $250 we'd agreed on. So I bailed and started shopping for an alternative. The No Limit fat bar 4-link seemed to be the best option for all around street, autocross, drag strip performance so I went for it with the brand new Moser 9".

Axle is 61" flange to flange and I'm definitely gonna have to tub it. My advantage is that it's a fleetside so it will be simple.

Rear wheels are 20x10.5 with 6.5" backspacing.

Love the gauge cluster with the orange back lights. Will be considering the dakota gauges.

Re: 55 Fleetside Restomod

Nice build. Wondering if you could tell me where you picked up that (nice looking) 3-way junction block on your rear brake lines. Running stainless 3/16"/-3AN in?

Thanks, Jim

Hey Jim, I'm lucky enough to have a local shop called tubes and hoses that has all that cool stuff in stock and can also make custom tunes and hoses for just about every situation you can think of. Next time I'm there I'm happy to ask them what their source is for those things. If you can't get them online I'm happy to ship you a few. I used 2 of them on my truck.

Re: 55 Fleetside Restomod

Thanks. I saw a Tubes and Hoses in Loveland online, but didn't have an online catalog. Yes, next time you happen in there I would appreciate any info you could get me on them.

Cheers, Jim
