Me too. We should start an online club of computer illiterates. But then again we wouldn't know how to do it.

I'm sorry but that's just funny. I especially like the "Switch Now' BS. Oh sure I will. Seems legit to me. Yeah right.

Re: Ads on the site

I don't know anything about computers but this doesn't seem to be anything to do with this end of things, what devise or what service. Because I know so little any of this, my laptop is still in Microsoft S mode, meaning every feature that came with my computer that was Microsoft is still Microsoft with nothing changed or added. No ad blockers, nothing, just how it came out of the box. It is odd it only affects some, though. I have no idea on that, but it seems everything we come up with seems to have an exception.

Re: Ads on the site

Oh I'm sure each and every update of Micro this and yaya that contains bits and digicals we would not have on our devices but we don't have the option to not have them. It's not all about helping the end users either. I'm a skeptical sort and that's just my take on it all.

Maybe you will get an add for Babbel.

That is the best way to learn a foreign language.

if you are using firefox browser (you should) or even chrome (very insecure browser) you can use an add-in called ad block pro (ABP) and i also add in U Block Origin and Facebook Container.

you tube ads got you down? you will never see another with this setup. pop up/pop under/redirects? never ever again.

I DID recently have a problem where the page would load blank and there would be a text box at the bottom trying to load a rover.ebay ad, it would boot me and say the page was unavailable for a few min. but ever since sunday never has happened again.

more firefox tips: set it to clear cache and history when you exit. yes you have to log in every visit, but I just browse till i have something to add anyway. doing this keeps cross tracking cookies from building your profile and targeting you with ads. and Facebook Container keeps facebook in its own closed "room", with no windows. I have started using container tabs for banking and amazon too.

happy browsing!
I just added uBlock Origin.

This really help my computer out

Thanks for the info.

I tried chrome once

It locked my computer up tighter than a eight day clock

thats good but remember private mode just means it wont store cookies, its not private to your internet provider or anyone with a trackiing cookie! so many people are surprised that their google account still keeps browsing history in private/incognito mode!

They aren't for me. I am still getting the large pop-up from the bottom of the page...... Maybe I will try logging all the way off and back on to see if that changes anything.

Re: Ads on the site

I installed uBlock Origin, It's an Extension for Mozilla, when the ads started showing up on this site.
It has blocked the ads from the bottom of the page. Very happy with the results.

I would say mine has been worth installing. Even better that it was a free install.

Re: Ads on the site

Kwmech,

You don't have to do an ad blocker as the site will return to normal once Admin have a fix. It is being worked on, but is not just a flip of the switch to make them go away.

Again, I ask for your patience as the Admin of the site are still working around the personal things described in post 40 of this thread by Liz.

It will get fixed, just might take a little longer than what we all want.
