Thanks Tony... She is a very patient and understanding. She has supported me the whole way. We had a chance yesterday to go out in the 69 for a while, she loved it, and we had a really good time.

Did not use it to pull the boat, it is in a slip on a lift.. has saved me from many arguments at the boat ramp...

Just got caught up on your build on the LS1 site.. your car turned out great.. Congratulations.

45000 miles? I didn't think a Toyota required any oil.

You daughter isn't the first. My brother dated a girl that bought a new car a few years ago and didn't think the oil had to be changed until the light came on. She made it to about 25,000.

I am pretty sure the oil light was shining bright for a while on the Avalon.. not sure what she was thinking...

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Just a quick update, I installed a 2 inch drop steering arm to bring the angle of the draglink closer to level. This helped with the bump steering. The truck steers much better than it originally did with this addition and the late model gear box.

Before:

After:

Next addition is a sway bar..

Sand blasted and painted the set of 67-68 tow hooks that I got here on the board. I did not realize they would not fit my 69 without modification to the front bumper, I guess I will put them for sale or trade for a set of 69-72.

They really cleaned up nice..

I have put over 1700 miles on the truck since I got it going again.. I am really happy with the way it turned out. The LS engine was really a great addition, great power, fuel economy, and drivability.

I have noticed I have a very slight vibration from 53 to 62 mph. I really would not have noticed it except it makes the AC control arms rattle a little in that speed range. Above or below, very smooth. I guess I will have the tires re-balanced to see if it helps. Don’t get me wrong, as I have mentioned before it still rides like a SWB 4x4, but.. that is what it is?

Still working on getting the AC charged, hopefully that all gets resolved this week.

Not sure on the badges, I tend to take mine off and smooth things out instead, but stock badging as new is a nice addition. Can that truck get any nicer.

You know how I feel about this. I like the stock look. I think GM had it right the first time. I'm a big fan of the trim and emblems. (IMHO). The way your truck is equipped, it's definetly a CST as far as where the 4x4 goes? I don't have a clue.

Thanks Mike.. it did turnout better than I thought it would.. all the little dents and stuff are gone..

I got the steering box at NAPA.. I am very happy I decided to change it, it is like a different truck, the steering fells so much tighter...

The weekend was great.. Friday afternoon I went by and showed my Dad the truck and visted with him for a while, and Saturday all the Kids (except 1) and some of the Grandkids came and stayed with us at the lake... we had a great time...

I need to come out and see you soon.. Let me know if you are going to be out in the shop any this week..

Just give me a shout. I'll be working in the shop all week after work.

I need to get one of the newer steering gear boxes.

Not sure what details you are looking for.. The cab light is just a LED bulb in a standard dome light, I got both from LMC. The cargo light is a standard cargo light (very nice light) I got from Classic parts of America. I drilled 6 holes and mounted 12V red LEDs in the case of the light. Let me know if you have other questions.

Ya, everyone has a black truck...but tri-color, nobody has one of those. Ok maybe a good thing. I had to remove your black beauty from my screen saver, just too nice, made me miss my old truck from last year I traded off that was going to do a full paint. It was cool but beautiful paint is just that much better, bet you still won't go muddin though, haha.

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Maybe I didn't notice early on, but what's that front bumper from (on the before)? It looks like a 71-72 bumper, but it looks strange the way it sticks out like that. Is it an aftermarket, heavy duty, bumper or something like that???

Not sure, but it looked like some type of aftermarket bumper. It had a heavy duty brush guard that someone cut off at sometime. The bumper was very heavy, I still have it, for now, it is in the back of one of McBassin's bone yard trucks. It will soon be going to the scrap metal place. If some one is interested in it, let me know soon.

What about this? LINK

I'm not sure it's 100% original but it looks the same as my setup with the "CST 10" - "8-350". FYI, I will probably make my own 8-3** badges to corrisponde with my engine displacement.
