Re: Inline 6 Engines & Tranny Choices
Just remember that the four speed Muncie SM465 is a dedicated WORK tranny meaning it has a compound low " granny " first gear few will ever use ~ it simply cannot be used in daily driving .
Of course , that $75 junkyard Saginaw four speed from the wrecked '65 Chevelle is a direct bolt in and works very well against an InLiner 6 cylinder indeed . ALL older American manual trannies have the same ratio in top gear ~ 1.1:1 , three speed or four speed . Have fun but realize what you want and what you're doing before dropping in a four speed and expecting it to go faster 'cause it won't . .

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Just got my 250 resealed, cleaned and painted then added some decals. Here is a before and an after...I'm happy with the results for sure.

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Damn. I hate seeing people patching their fuel lines with rubber hose over the exhaust manifolds. Vibrations take their toll. Know a couple guys who burned up their rides that way.

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Well ;
Rubber fuel lines are not inherently dangerous , not changing them out every 3 + years is what causes the fires....

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Here's my new 292. Mildly built for the street...though it'll rev to 6k if I want it to. Will be bolted to a tremic 5 speed.

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Been a while since I've visited; equally long since I've worked on my 67. Here's my 292 at the beginning of the tear-down... back in 2008 I think.
This weekend I unearthed it and stuck the head on; hopefully I'll get it all together before the snow gets bad this winter: It's been too dang long since I've turned an SAE wrench; this baby needs to get back on the road! I miss driving my old metal around! >>Dan

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
Watch the parts section , I found one for $10.00 + shipping . Media blasted it and after a few coats of high build primer it looks brand new .

The flat typ as used on Chevy II's , Camaros , Malibus and full size sedans , are also out there and often cheap . I have a few but they're a bit rusty , once I get access to a bead blaster I'll clean and strip them then sell off . Same air cleaners interchange between 194 , 230 , 250 and 292 CID engines with the later Rochester carby (?) BC series IIRC .

Re: how about some pics of inline 6 engines
What is it? Looks like maybe a Vortec 4.2, but the early '60s oil filler tube/breather cap throws me. Also looks like a Pontiac Catalina/GTO nose, w/ Sprint badge. So is it an El Cabrito? [Sp. for '' little goat''] Some might contend that it is a truck, then.
Can't read the numerals on the fender badge.
