Dave, it looks awesome! I'm regretting checking the update on your build.................. After seeing your seam filled, it's making me want to do mine. IDK though...........

It all by weight. The mixing weights are about 99% acurate in most measurement systems. Most of the older colors are correct the newer ones can be a challenge at times. Human error at the paint counter can cause variation in the same color.

Here's a video of them painting it. This is before sanding/buffing the clear.

Here's a teaser pic of some of the post-paint work. Sorry about the terrible rims, but you don't put the fancy wheels in the paint booth!

Re: Dave's 1970 GMC 402 Longhorn

Sorry, been waiting on the body shop while you've been waiting on me! The paint and body is done now, so I am going to fly out and inspect it and then ship it back and get to work on it!

Here are a couple of current pics. It'd look better with headlights and wheels so on, but remember this is still very much "in progress", with no interior or wiring or anything yet.

Cheers,
Dave

Hello davepl, That is one heck of a nice truck , It's all in the details which you have nailed dead on, I just got the younger and shorter sister to yours a 1971 gmc 2wd swb with factory 402 turbo 400 trans ps pdb a/c. I have since repainted the hood hinges satin black as well as sanded and repainted the core support, and removed the black on the grill, (that was about an 8 hr job) removed and cleaned the carpet Here are some pics of my girl ENJOY Marc

Re: Dave's 1970 GMC 402 Longhorn

Time to add some new photos! Progress is slow because it's mostly detail work and time-consuming things like rewiring it, but it's coming along.

Here's the heater box. It was tough finding a color that matched the original, but this was surprisingly close. It's actually a Hammertone finish with some texture to it.
