Re: 1970 Longbed Build

Hey couple more question Devin, how is the in town driving with the 4 speed and 3.08 rear end? Notice any bog or trouble with gettin up to speed? Your running a V8 right?

No issues whatsoever. Yes, I've got a basic 350 without a lot of pop.

You can drive it next month if you'd like...

Ok kinda figured it wouldn't be a big deal, my 72 with the th350 had 3.08's and it had no problems with take off. My 68 has an engine with some pretty decent get up and go so I wanted to make sure it would still get up to speed ok. I think I am going to call ECE and order those saddle perches for the rear end.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build

Picked up a great set of CST doors last night.

The guy even through in the glovebox door from the same truck. I love this saddle color.

Going to be replacing something this weekend that may have been sprayed in a drive-by at some point.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build

Looks to me like the glass in the white doors is the tinted glass, but the other doors is the clear glass. Didn't know if you knew that.

I didn't. Good knowledge, and good catch.

Hopefully this makes them worth more!

Re: 1970 Longbed Build

I went with the tinted glass in mine, just another factory option. It should make them worth more especially if you part them out.

I'll probably ask $130 for the pair of doors.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build

So much for the saying "work smart, not hard" when it comes to these new doors. After spraying one of them three different times, I figured out the surface wasn't clean when the truck was originally repainted.

I wasn't planning on going straight to bare metal, but want to do it right the first (or 4th) time around.

I ordered some Zero Rust last night and should have this back together shortly.

Believe me, I've thought about it. I've got one of the only clears on the market that won't yellow over bare metal made by POR15. But I think I need to start working towards one color on this thing.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build

When it rains, it pours.

1 of 2 doors hung, but it really needs adjusting.

Door 2 needs some new felt and glue in the track. Hopefully will get it hung tomorrow.

I've always done well with procrastinating.

I am familiar with procrastination as well Focus on getting the doors hung and adjusted, the felts and such can be done later. Riding down the highway with no bed is one thing but no doors as well. That might draw a little attention.

Agreed. But i'd like glass on the passenger side.

1. Replace glass glue in track. *Completed 10.1
2. Install glass and vent window. *Completed 10.4
3. Install door handles, lock, panel, and crank. *Completed 10.5
4. Hang doors and adjust. *Completed 10.3
5. Install CST badges. *Completed 10.3
6. Install mirrors. *Completed 10.4
7. Pull seat and cut base to drop 1" and 2". Install. *Completed 10.3
8. Replace both hood hinges and springs. *Completed 10.1
9. Shave cab fill. *Started 10.3
10. New air cleaner *Completed 10.4
11. Wash and detail.

Sometimes making lists helps.

I wish.

Heading to Corona tomorrow morning. If Brothers had my mirror kit in stock I would have stopped by for some "carry on" for the return flight home.

Instead Early Classics helped me out with half of it, then made the trek down to see Bill at Vintage Chevy. Mentioned the At****er meet, and he didn't appreciate me "advertising" the competition in his shop.

It's crunch time boys! Next update will be Weds night.
