Re: Pro Performance : '68 SWB Build

Worked on the truck this last weekend. Got the AC finished up, mostly ran tranny cooler lines, mounted radiator, dropped the bed on, finished brakes, etc.

Still needs to be dropped about 1.5" in the back.

Next will be to finish up the wiring, exhaust and driveline.... then time to start this thing!

I agree. Makes me want to pull up a lawn chair and just stare at it for 3 weeks before continuing with the work. Great job and awesome choice in wheels.

lol... thank you! When we rolled it out, we just had to put a fender on loosely, just to see what it looked like. We did the same thing though... looked at it for about half an hour.

Very nice!! What modifications to bed floor/tubs to get the 315's to clear?

All stock wheel tubs and bed floor. The 315's just have a touch more tire bulge than a 295. It might touch if the axle twist at an extreme angle, but there is room in there.

Wade,
We had a Champion left over from another build, so he decided to go that route.

Did you have to run a high hump trans cover with this motor/trans setup?

Low hump it is. We used the Dirty Dingo mounts and mounts the engine setup forward slightly, which gave more clearance at the back of the firewall and in the tunnel.

What backspace did you end up with on the wheels? They look great - Schott makes a VERY nice wheel. I'm running a set of Schott SL65's on my truck.

Think the 315s would be OK for a bagged truck?

They definitely do! It's great the amount of lip you can get on these trucks without even narrowing the rear end. Ended up with a 4.75".

I wouldn't run it on a bagged truck that lays on the ground. If bagged and just running a c-notch, then possible could get away with it. Would rub good at low cruise heights or when fully aired out.
