Re: Crash's 69 K10

I decided to do something about the Sherman Tank ride characteristics of the truck. I realize it is a short wheel base lifted 4x4, but it still rides rough. I think the rear springs may be stock off of a later model chevy. Maybe off of a ¾ ton. The front springs may be for a ¾ ton as well. I decided on a 2.5" skyjscker 4 spring lift. I measured the height before are after and all for corners are within ½” of the readings before the change out. So the overall height is the same. I guess I will try to sell the old springs and blocks..

Old springs and blocks..

Anybody have a idea on what the old springs are worth.. They have been sandblasted, painted, and have all new poly bushing…

Have no idea on the worth, but did that solve the rough ride?

I will not know until I get the bed back on. I don't want to drive it without the bed, afraid it will throw a rock up and chip something.. I am sure it will be better just looking at how they are designed.. I will let you know more after I have a chance to drive it..

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Curious to see how high the truck sits when you get the new springs on. I just installed the same kit on my project and it looks a little high with 33" tires. I just want to make sure the truck is going to still fit in my garage when done...I had 7" of clearance before I tore it all apart.

BTW great job on the truck and can't wait to see it when you get the bed done.

Here's a few pics of mine...still in the early stages.

It did not raise it more than 1/2" from what it was. There was some type of lift on the truck when I got it. The front springs may have been off of a 3/4 ton, they seemed super stiff. The rears are HD as well. There was a 2" lift blocks in the back before I installed the lift. I have not gotten to drive since the lift, but I really believe this will help the stiff ride I had.

Your build is looking great. Looking forward to see more progress.

I had the same concerns, I am running a 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires. Mine clears by about an inch with 7 ft. Door

We have paint on the bed… Great job by Kyle, I did not expect it to be done this quick. Hopefully I will be able to pick it up next weekend.

Hey Crash, the tailgate trim & taillight trim would set that black paint off.It would make the back end look really sharp & stand out.Looking good on the bed, keep on truckin''

Your truck has come a long way due to all of your hard work and Kyle's paint and body skills! Looks slick! Did Kyle use a base/clear or single stage?

Kyle,

I am beginning to wonder if you really are a Paint and Body guy because quick service and quality work never go together. I am very impressed with the quality of work shown especially the black color and the timeframe it was completed in. My truck spent over 8 months at the painter, I got a great paint job but I was originally quoted 6 weeks.
