Thanks for the pics, can you get me a pic of where the collector drops down so I can see how much ground clearance they have.

Please post up some part numbers when you find a good "Dropmember friendly" set of headers.
I need this info also.

Thanks Nate I'll give you a call tomorrow, hopefully you can help me with my problem or point me in the right direction on a set of headers that will clear better.

I know that headers look great and there are the obvious performance gains but what about a set of late 60's manifolds, maybe for a Chevelle. They dump at the rear and with a little smoothing and coating look great. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Buck, I have thought about that but would hate to have to put manifolds on this truck after everything I have done. I just don't like the look of them and it would bother me every time I see them.

Thanks buddy I appreciate it, I'm just a little frustrated. I think the Sanderson BB8 will work because they suck in closer to the block on the driver side. They also look as if they don't dump out too low. I'll know more after I take some measurements this weekend. I'm currently looking for a place that doesn't have a restocking fee on returns because if I order directly from Sanderson they have a 15% restocking fee. If I have to send them back I don't want to have to pay that.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

If you decide to go Sanderson I have nothing but good things to say about them. Super high quality and very nice. I had mine coated because it was cheaper then buying there thermal coating. I think I paid close to 350 for raw headers through eBay with free shipping.

I'm going to take some measurements this weekend when I work on my truck again. I really need this truck home so I can just go out in the garage and measure it I can get the raw BB8 headers from summit racing with free shipping for $345 right now, I might go that route so at least I know I can send them back with no issues.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Worked on the truck a little today. After speaking to Nate and seeing some pics of the steering shaft setup I'm confident I won't have any issues with the clearance around the headers for the steering shaft. Also helps that I didn't have the motor centered in the frame I bolted the motor tight last weekend before bolting the trans to the crossmember. So today I loosened the motor up and shifted it over some and bolted it down to the trans crossmember. Now the headers have more clearance. I also confirmed that I won't have any clearance problems with the drivers side collector as I thought I would. I have to modify my driver side exhaust pipe some but no big deal. I'm happy as now I don't have to worry about spending more money on new headers and my Hedmans work with the Touring Dropmember.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I decided to purchase the House of Colors Digital Paint Booth program because even though I do love Red, I wanted to mess around with some different colors. I really like this program, love how with just a click of the mouse I can change the color. Just wish they had more wheel options. First off some pics of some Blue combos.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

My wife loves the Blue with just the White grill and letters, she even says it blows away the Red. As she puts it, everything is Red . My truck is originally Blue/White and I'm liking the concept of painting it back Blue/White but with a little change in the stock color scheme.

Really liking the blue...will be a lot like the 68 bb truck I'm building. Did you try one with the grill in blue also? I've been thinking of that or silver without doing white anywhere else.

I also like the silver although it looks really good in red and white also....these trucks pretty much look good in any color....even ochre
