Just like all the plastics floating around in the ocean. Why don't we go back to drinking soda out of glass and milk out of card board?Heck I don't remember people really drinking water out of plastic bottles in the eighties.Seemed liked people only drinked coffee and Budweiser in the eighties.

Re: Gas Prices?

I had an electric mower once. I got sick of pulling the cord 50 times on my old POS gas mower to get it to start. I thought it would be nice to just flip a switch and go.

Nope. It would trip the breaker constantly and I always had to watch to make sure that I didn't run over the cord. It was worse than the old one.

I did have better luck with an electric weed eater. My gas weed eater would never start back up if you shut it off.

I don't do yard work anymore.

"I don't do yard work anymore." Sounds good to me! I do as little as possible. I bought a new Husky weed eater a couple years ago, temperamental little devil, and now it leaks gas so I drain the tank after I use it.
Wish I would have bought electric instead.

When I was a kid, my dad got an electric mower. Told me to be careful you don't run over the cord. I didn't. He did.

I really don't do yard work. I have a gardner. It looks like hard work. No thanks.

I used to do a lot of yard work. But that was just to get out of the house and away from my ex wife.

The cost never changes for me at the pump. It always costs $75. What I've noticed is I don't seem to go as far now

Re: Gas Prices?

I saw mention on tv of the small motors ban in Cali the other day and they gave a "statistic" that was so unreal it's nuts. They said using a gas powered leaf blower 30 minutes produced the same amount of emissions as driving a small car 3800 miles or something like that. I don't know.
Were they smokin when they came up with that or what?

Oh, reg gas $2.84 here today.

I can't believe that. If it's true then the environmentally irresponsible party here is the car maker for not providing a way to attach a mower deck to that wonderfully clean burning small car That's a poor comparison because they used a 2-stroke. People don't mow with 2-stroke engines and we only blow leaves for a short period each year. I used about 2.5 gallons of gas a year to mow my place, which happens once a week for half the year.

I've seen $309.9 all week at a variety of stations that I wouldn't have thought offered the same price. I wondered if the El Cheapo place I use would be any cheaper. It was $289.9 the week before. I bought gas Thursday and forgot to cheap the price

Re: Gas Prices?

I found it very hard to believe too so I did a quick google and found this info. This is what I got a glimpse of the other day.
I know this is heading away from the cost of gas today topic but it is related.

[Distilling the above results, the four-stroke Ryobi leaf blower kicked out 6.8 times more NOx, 13.5 times more CO and more than 36 times more NMHC than the Raptor.

The two-stroke leaf blower was worse still, generating 23 times the CO and nearly 300 times more NMHC than the crew cab pickup. Let's put that in perspective. To equal the hydrocarbon emissions of about a half-hour of yard work with this two-stroke leaf blower, you'd have to drive a Raptor for 3,887 miles, or the distance from Northern Texas to Anchorage, Alaska.

Clearly, engine displacement plays little part in the concentrations of these pollutants. Consider that the Fiat 500 produced more than double the NOx and more than three times the hydrocarbons of the truck. A close look at the vehicles' underhood emissions labels sheds further light — the Fiat 500 is classed as LEV-II, whereas the Raptor in California trim is ULEV-II. The Raptor's emissions control equipment is simply more capable. It's only in the production of carbon dioxide (CO2) — not yet directly regulated by EPA or CARB — where the Raptor is the higher emitter.]

Here is the complete comparison report. It appears those little off road engines are nasty little dudes.

Cars have catalytic converters. Small engines do not. IMPO the comparison falls under the fear mongering umbrella to support their narrative...and is, therefore, void.

My wife had Murphy Rewards at Wal Mart. She paid $2.19 yeaterday.

Plastic water bottles stick in my craw.

And plastic bags. At least plastic bags have other uses and can be recycled.

Wish they would go back to glass bottles for sodas and do a bottle return $$ like they used to do. Maybe wouldn't have so much trash laying along side of the roads.

Re: Gas Prices?

I fill reused quart glass jars for my cooler. I have been freezing the same plastic water bottle for over a year to cool it with. I can't believe how fast and how many plastic bags I accumulate. I'm trying to get into the habit of using the reusable bags. I did last night. A couple counties around here charge a nickel apiece. I'd be fine with paper. They should pay the nickel

Back to gas prices. I'll let you know later this week
