Re: Prototype center speaker holder

hahah its all good. Everything always gets pushed back when someone who's actually willing to pay walk in Our Fbody hasn't even been out for more than 2 days at a time...and it just made good friends with a curb its last run out. Turns out "testing our new traction control program" means "keep your foot planted until it hits something"....go figure.

Spent most of yesterday helping fix a car that was spending welllll past the owners intelligence level. I mean, its a badass cryo'd and meth'd F1b on a forged 430 in a C6...but turns out you can't trust owners to ACTUALLY CHECK the #$%^)(%#$& ^ #$ METH TANK...... /rant

Glad things are going well. Offer always stands, I'll come out if you need help. Building and fixing people's junk feels about the same no matter where it happens

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Frank,

Have you received your kit yet? if you have any questions on install, please let me know.

I have 2 left in stock and currently out of speakers. waiting for a new batch of speakers and material to arrive to restock everything. Thanks again for all the great feedback and install pictures.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Steve,

Im really shooting to have the new design production run done and ready to ship the end of next week. looking at the schedule it takes #1 priority Tuesday morning. Im new to the CNC world so the learning curve has been a little steep causing some delays. But we are making progress.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Steve,

If you want to order one I will be hand making yours like I did the older version. The CNC guy and I arent seeing eye to eye on the design so its been pushed back again. Thursday I ordered the correct part for my machine to cut the inner circle to your spec. Or really really close to. Tomorrow I will be making a small hand run batch to fill orders until the CNC batch is done.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Hi Kyle,
Sounds good, but I have one question. How will your "Hand made" ones be different from the CNC made ones? Any difference in quality?
If not, I'll take one.

Thanks!

there is no difference in quality. All the materials are the same, the end product looks the same its just how its manufactured. Right now I cut blanks place them in a precision cut jig, drill and route everything by hand. The CNC is just going to speed up that process.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Steve,

I'm Sorry I could not meet your spec. I really wish I could have done it better. If you dont get one built by the time the CNC guy and I get back in line, yours will be the first off the machine. Until then, I will continue to build the old design for customers.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Finally back making these the original way. All the machinist around here cant seem to grasp the isea or dont want to mess with 100-200 pieces. so back to making them out of my jig.

I did make a change making them 1" narrower so now the outside diameter is 6"x10" I have a good stack built and ready to ship and will be coming in sunday to finish the blanks I have cut.

In stock and ready to ship. Fredstruckparts.com

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Well I was doing some work under the dash looked up and noticed my speaker holder has fallen down. Not sure why but has anyone else had an issue?
Trying to figure out if I want to use the same stuff to remount it.
I don't imagine it's going to be real easy to get the old stuff off the bottom of the dash.

do you remember how big of a bead you used? and also how clean were both surfaces? Yours will be the first known case of the speaker plate coming off. I would like to help find a solution to this issue. please let me know what I can do to help.

I dont remember how big it was. I used windex to clean the surfaces and then an alcohol pad for final prep. I also let it sit for a few days before removing the zip ties and mounting the speakers.
If this is the only one you have herd of I will use the same stuff and try to get some more on it this time. For now I will just blame it on Trump.

Re: Prototype center speaker holder

Not yet. Between long days at work cold weather and snow I haven't had the gumption to redo it yet. Plus with as cold as it is I'm sure it would be better to wait until it warms back up.
