Re: Long to short conversion

when i instal them i will have to take some pics. I got them from brothers trucks, they are stainless steel latches that mount on the inside of tailgate at the top. they are manual (you have to reach in grab both pull and open). they cost around $70-80. but thanks i really like the way they work. i wanted my tailgate to work but i wanted the shaved inside and outside of the tailgate. i had to make a plate to get welded to the bed and drill holes in it and then mount the little bar inside the tailgate. been wanting to install them just havent had the time yet. i will post pics though when i do

Re: Long to short conversion

cool...looking forward to the installed pictures. Sounds like a cool idea! I am going to have the old school chevrolet lettering built into it. Wanted it shaved otherwise. Did you use the skin on top of the existing gate or cut out the metal and install the smooth skin?

Re: Long to short conversion

the first pic is one latch. the second is oneside installed. the third is the top of the bedside so you can see the little tab to be installed and hole drilled in it. and the fourth is top of the inside of tailgate-tab on outside with hole and the hole and slot needed for inside. i just got a 71 gas pedal assembly with cable from another board member Thanks lowridden58.

Re: Long to short conversion

Christmas Came Early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right...

Got the motor. Does not even have a parts list of all the components. I thought if you spend this kind of money the attention to detail would be there. Does not have plugs or plug wires (it is supposed to) and i paid (only 50 bucks but hey i did) for a carb pgrade from manual to electric choke(not there). And i got the more expensive motor (for the roller cam instead of the flat tappet) and one of the first things is a sheet telling you how to break in a flat tappet cam. i know i bought a crate motor- they mass produce to make money, but when you shop for a place to get it you think yu chose the ones that are going to take the time with ours.Am i asking tooooo much?
Motor does look good though

Re: Long to short conversion

Man, customer service continues to suffer during this down economy. At first I didn't understand but started looking at my own company and jobs that were handled by several now are done by one person wearing 3-4 hats...

....that said it's not an excuse and here's hoping the company makes it right....ASAP! I know we would at my business.

Hey VA72C10 what do you do for work?
I sell cabinetry including designing kitchens, measuring, estimating, prospecting, ordering, etc etc...

Trucks are my hobby and a part time way of selling parts to pay for my projects

What about you?

I used to weld. Got laid off in the end of 2008. Unemployment most of 2009. Then I learned how to clean pools. Started my own business in Dec 09 and it has been a very nice blessing. It is growing slowly but surely and working for yourself is pretty cool.

I definitely want to run my own company some day. The cabinet business is super slow right now so I can't risk it with my family but I can see myself either doing that or running a 67-72 truck restoration/parts business in a few years if the economy starts turning around...

Sweet! a restoration/parts business would be really cool. Blueprint engines actually overnighted all that stuff. I got plugs, wires, and the electric choke kit fed ex today.
