Re: My 52 GMC Build

Today I started installing my cruse control. I must have tried 6 different spots, I am getting very limited on space and settled on inside under the dash. Gives me access to the setup switches and gives the cable a straight shot to the throttle, also keeps under the hood tidy. I figure with the sound of the diesel I'll never hear the servo motor, I hope.

That is awesome on the original lettering being uncovered! It looks great! Nice stash of projects you found too. They all don't look to be in too terrible of condition.

We could see the lettering was under the orange but I had no idea it could ever be uncovered. All the stuff there was very fixable most ran.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So today I got the cruse cable hooked up, I'll tie or trim the cable once it works and started to run the wires. Also installed the directional signal cruse arm that replaced the original gm one that I can use in my Jimmy

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So I finished hooking up the 5 wires required for my cruse control today and took it for a test drive. After pulling over 3 times to adjust 3 of the 12 switches for set up, it works AMAZING!!!!!! No surging, holds the speed bang on! So far works better than any factory cruse I ever used.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Saturday morning I went to pick up my Dad's car witch he gave me, so now I'm the caretaker. It's a 1951 MG TD I helped him restore this car 25 years ago before I could even drive. To go with that I am now going to build a shop in my backyard. The plan is for 30X40

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Sunday after the rain stopped I drove my truck and my friend Joe drove my Dad's MG to the car show. We had a great day. Not as many vehicles this year (weather) but still very cool cars and trucks.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

1st Some of you may recognize this F*-d, think tv show second time I met him. (Grant) He lives a few blocks from me.
2nd C10 with a Cummins and a stick shift, never got a chance to talk to him.
3rd This REO had a supercharger that he could turn on and off with a belt tensioner factory. He drives this everyday.
4th 1927 Chevy capital coach they drive all over.
5th I won "Keep on truckin" because of the traveling I have done and am doing.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Some nice iron at the show. I see the REO's stuff appears to be painted Detroit green.

I just recently put up a 36x40 with a 14' ceiling. Definitely go at least 12' high.

Lower, have you read The Red Car by Don Stanford? Not about an MD but a TC. It's a very cool story. I read it forty something years ago and it still comes to mind from time to time.

Ya I noticed the color too. I'm able to go 10' walls 18' high so I'm going with a vaulted ceiling. I'm putting in a 4 post hoist.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Van Fest 22 was such an amazing event, Canada's largest and longest running custom van and truck show. The vehicles, the people and the venue where awsome. The BEST show we have been to yet.
Friday eve I hooked the camping trailer up to my truck and my GF drove our '87 Jimmy and off we went with the kids and dog.
There was 3 GM square body trucks and an old ford with Cummins 5.9L motors. This one was very nice. Lots to look at.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Saturday eve was the awards. My boys entered the Jimmy and won 2nd place for "Full size SUV". I was blown away with so many custom vehicles my truck won best in class "Old school" and "Best engineered". Around 8:00pm the band started and so did the party.
