Wow, I'm totally baffled as to why I've never replied to this thread, I've watched it for a long time. All I can say is that I'm seriously impressed with all the work you've done Greg (I think it's Greg??). My tiny bit of floor rust doesn't mean squat compared to what you had to work with, truly inspirational

Is that what Manitoba winters does to a vehicle ( salt from the roads ) I give you alot of credit I wouldn't have taken that on. My truck had very little rust on it when I got it (it came from Edmonton) keep up the good work.

The work you have done so far is nothing short of amazing. I'm from Buffalo, NY and I know what the 67-72 trucks look like up there. I gave up on a 72 Chevy 1 ton farm truck. She was too far gone for me I cheated and went to South Carolina and picked up an all original 67 SB stepside. I feel ashamed all I had to do was replace the inner fenders, rockers, and tailgate. I do have one question for you though....this is the first time I've seen this thread...why did you cut up a really solid looking blazer to fix another one? Wouldn't it have been easier to put a Jimmy front end on the solid body? Also, with as rare as they are, you pretty much destroyed a usuable body. You could have had two of them. Isn't that kinda against what your doing for the Jimmy?? Destroy one to save the other? I'm a true fan of the 67-72's and while the work your doing is great, its hurts to see all the cabs, extra blazer, etc... get cut up. Anyway, what's done is done...keep them pics comin!!!

I discovered the body in a junkyard after I had started on trying to figure out how to cut up a pickup truck to turn it into a Jimmy. The tub from the junkyard is pretty decent, it was wrecked very early on in its life so the majority of the body was fairly rust free but the bed floor and the cab floor were gone because they sat there for 20 years covered in thick carpet and plywood(see pic), it wouldn't have been posible to save them.

I haven't really done much to show on it lately, I am having troubles finding some decent patch panels for the bed so I am pretty much stuck. I have been working on little things like the steering column, etc. Rebuiling and repainting them and boxing them up so they are ready to plug in once the body is painted.

Nothing short of Amazing GEE

(obviosly i'm a little slow in discovering this thread....but i have a question...)

You used a truck cab, cut the back off it - (then shaped the rear part of the floor to that of a blazer floor???)

Also - Rocker Boxes -
I don't know much about blazers so forgive me guys for asking....from the pics it looks like the rocker boxes are something that is "in addition" to the floor...they appear to be spot welded to the floor and not a "replacement of the floor".

do you have any pics of the rocker box installation? i'm curious to see how the different parts fit together.

using the truck cab and modifying it to accept the w/s and rear 1/2 of the Jimmy is simply amazing

This is what the rocker boxes look like underneath a Blazer, this is a spare body I picked up a little bit too late. At thats point I had already hacked up a pick up cab. The rocker boxes are welded on top the exsisting cab crossmembers and rocker backing plates with 1" beads. The metal the rocker boxes are made of is plate, not sheet metal.

For the back of the cab floor I cut off the cab corners and stuff then clamped a long piece of angle iron to the metal and formed the floor up using the angle iron as a guide. This is by far the hardest part of the whole coversion from pickup to Jimmy. I am actually surprised that it turned out as well as it did because I had to totally reverse the bend of the floor there.

I hope to add some updates to this thread in the next couple days.
