yeah since summit and jegs both sell the motors i figured probably preety safe company to buy from . their motors have a 30 month 50,000 mile warranty. I like it because i probably wont fire it for at least 6 months but you got time to get it in get it right and run for a little bit under warranty.

pic 2 is a front sway bar kit. i hoped it was like the stock one. its not. when i saw how it is supposed to be mounted i lost my motivation. i think i am going to modify it to mount to the a-arms more like stock.
3 i installed my dash pad and glove box. 4 is my steering column. and 5 i painted my center console

so this is a close up of my steering column. i do not want to spend the money and buy a new column. i pulled it out just to spray paint it black. i saw this boot is torn. i started looking up parts and was going to buy the rubber firewall and upper rubber. but i cannot find any parts like this one. anyone now about these steering columns? how important is this? what are my options for making it better? technically it was working fine i just figured it is out i should make it right. thanks for the help.

got some more goodies. i sure thought they would give you some bolts but they didnt/dont. i gotta go get some then i can bolt these on. ram flywheel and a centerforce clutch kit. i want to get a hydraulic kit too i just dont have the $ yet. after i get that i can install motor and trans.

i mounted the flywheel today. loctite and torq'd. i like summit, but as i stated earlier i wish this clutch setup would have included bolts. i got the flywheel bolts from the truck shop in orange, ca. i called summit they said i could just get 3/8 bolts grade 8 from like home depot to mount the pressure plate. thankfully i called centerforce for the foot lbs to torq these bolts. he said no, no, no. you have to use bolts that have a shoulder so the pressure plate is not sitting on any threads. if the threads wear you will have play. also do not use any washers. even if the kit you get has washer do not use them. as they can dig into the flywheel(cause play) or lock washers many times break. you do not want this at 5000 rpm anyway the guy was super cool and helpful. i dropped off that part of my steering column to a specialty shop they said it would be done this afternoon but i wont be able to pick it up until next week.

i got that peice for the steering column back today and it looks amazing. this place does excellent work. one pic of it installed on the column after i shot it black. and i installed the front sway bar over the weekend.

raining alot here in southern california. picked up my steering box yesterday(got rebuilt). i destroyed some foam washer/seal thing on the pitman arm and two places i went did not have. i wanted to put the box and the column in today but did not know what to use. m wife said i could cut up one of my sons shoes(dont you just love that in a woman). it is a lightning mcqueen one it has some dense foam. yu can see when i started cutting it and the old one on the right.

well my wife was not very happy when i told her,(because all the money i have spent recently) but today i ordered parts. i believe after these show up i will have everything i need to install the motor and trans. i ordered a few little things but i ordered that hydraulic clutch kit from mcleod.

I might be wrong but I think your lower boot is upside down on the steering column. I think the extended end should go to the inside of the cab so you can clamp the outside to the firewall.

couple of parts. next is an adapter to mount the 71-72 gas pedal. i paid for one from LFD a little while back and he sent my money back because he was out. so this is what i came up with. nothing fancy the three holes with no bolts are the going to firewall(original mount) and the three with threads and bolts in them are for the new pedal. i painted it today will install later this week. the jegs stuff is so i can mount my clutch. now just waiting on the hydraulic kit that has the throwout bearing then will install motor/trans.

fed ex dropped this off today. it is pretty nice. the hydralic clutch kit from mcloed. i got the gas pedal mounted, the ckutch and pressure plate mounted on tuesday night. hopefully i can make time this weekend to motor and trans in the truck. the throwout bearing is really nice and the master cylinder is willwood.

i ordered an autoloc shaved door kit off of ebay. the seller is in texas. before i ordered i called the seller to ask about solenoids and what is best for my truck. they said 50 lbs is best. fedex sucks and i never got it. i told the seller they sent another one usps and i got it today. it came with 35 lb solenoids. it sucks because the 35s are cheaper than the 50s. but honestly for my truck would the 35 work, eh they would be good for a little while, or no i need 50 lbs?

I love the look of the detailed column, it came out great. makes me want to give mine some needed attention.

Not intending to high jack your thread but these pictures reminded me of a question I have been meaning to ask about.
In the event of an accident does the 67-72 steering column telescope or does it jam you in the face.
I was going to take pics of mine to ask the question but your pics of it
uninstalled are much better. It appears that there is a dimple that given enough push will slide on the shaft.

thanks for resurecting the thread guys. i appreciate the encouragement. i dont think the column will colapse much if at all. exhaust is DONE and it is *****in. truck will be looooud. dont have pics of that. i finiished mt seat brackets this past week and spray painted. we cut the brake and clutch pedal to be lower. had a brand new posi unit installed about 2 months ago. great news my buddy got a shop last week. actually i am off to go there and help install a lift and my truck will get moved there in a week or two. we will have more room so hopefully things will speed up. pic is parts. we will build a box around the battery and mount it behind the pass seat. wrapped is my booster/master cylinder that just got rebuilt by ABS power brake. and goodies are front brake pads and rear brake disc kit that i picked up today from POL.
