Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

OK I got some parts today. Everything looks good as usual and fits like it should. I was a little concerned about what the cut quality was going to be like on the 1.250 thick spacer but it looks awesome. Although I guess it should considering it was cut with a 400 amp high def plasma.

I got one set all cleaned up and assembled and took some pics so you guys can see what you're buying. So far I have just used a stock D52 caliper. smashingchuck has one of his Wilwood dual piston D52's on it's way to me for a test fit. I'll be posting a thread in the Vendors marketplace this weekend officially offering these for sale. Those of you that already said you want a set, send me a PM and we can work out the details.

wow, those look great! Do you think using countersunk bolts would reduce the strength too much?

I wouldn't think it would. I believe flat heads are typically GR8 anyway.

Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

that does look great, i was wondering are the calipers more or less clocked to look like if they are in the same position of the front ones? so did you break down a final price? If im not wrong we would have to remove the axles to do the swap anyways right? i thin thats the only way to remove the backing plate for the drums.

Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

I'll be curious to see if these brackets will work with the dual piston design of the Wilwood caliper. The brackets look GREAT!

The D52 willwood is a direct replacement for the GM D52 .

Oh, I know that, but I was just looking at how this bracket seems to follow the shape of the single piston D52 caliper, where the overall shape of the Wilwood would seem to be different due to the dual piston design. The factory spindles and aftermarket spindles have a much larger open area than this bracket is all I was concerned with. Do not get me wrong...the piece looks phenomenal, I just was wondering out loud about the relief size where the actual caliper body fits.

Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

Yes the calipers are up at about 2 O'clock which might be a little higher than the fronts. The final price on these brackets remains the same as I posted above....$232.00 plus a flat rate shipping of $10.00 in the USA. Yes you will have to remove your axles to remove the backing plate. However these conversion brackets can be removed from the housing without removing the axles again.

Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

If there was a clearence issue, I would do whatever it takes to make it right. Smashingchuck is sending me one of his Wilwood dual piston D52 calipers to test fit. So we should have a comfirmation on those in a few days.

I'd like to wait on shipping them out,... until you confirm the Wilwood rotors fit.
Thanks.

Re: My whole braking system - thinking out loud

No problem. I'm actually glad you brought it up. I am going to hold off shipping any of these until I can confirm the fitment of the Wilwood dual piston D52 calipers. That way if there is an issue I can take care of it here.
