Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

Its alright man, first time I did a set of drum brakes it took me over an hr per side using the link oldblue posted.. Now I can have them apart, cleaned and reassembled in under 15min. When you switch the shoes around leave the adjusters a bit loose. Then you will be able to move your truck and they will be adjusted the first or second time you back up.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

so having all the brakes back wards and stuff is making it hard to push right? if so then that is good news because my mom said i can t push my truck out very much anymore since it is so hard

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

I wouldn't think it would make it harder to push, just less effective stopping going forward. The reason they drag is all the parts are new and tight, if you back the adjusters off a bit they shouldn't drag at all.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

Ignition switch should be able to come out without special tool, mine did.

I used a small hammer/flathead screwdriver or other chizel type device and tap it around till its loose/off.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

well that didnt work when we took mine out (the original back in 2009) so with this tool we will never mess another one up well somthins wrong my ignition is sliding throught the dash with the retaining ring all the way tight ( it will come forward maybe an inch) so i might have a 68 72 ignition sucks having (almost) one year truck... just about everything in the dash and including the dash is different, sucks.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

well guys i am having 2 problems, 1 its raining tommorow and the next day and it has been raining since saturday so that is why no pics of the truck or its new stuff (sorry guys). and my second problem, my ignition isnt fitting right in my dash, it needs this thing that goes behind the dash in order to make it not come throught the dash, so the retaining ring can tighten against it.... well thats what i think i need can anyone help me! i am still a young guy!

You need a early 67 ignition spacer if you have the small hole. Good luck, I've been trying to find one for my green truck. All of the repro ones are the later style from what I've seen.
