Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

10.5stang - Ram-Man has some real good shots on his build thread, top of page 2:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=213293

DMARCUM123 - I have a proto-type done, but I am having issues with alignment when the bracket is tightened to the axle flange. The bracket is pulling around the flange and throwing the alignment of the caliper to the rotor off. I have a couple of ideas on how to fix it, but since getting the body work going on my truck, I temporarily lost my chassis since it got moved out of the shop. Hope to get back on them soon.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

Anybody that is using the Impala brackets, What are you doing for an emergency brake. Good old Texas vehicle inspection requires one and I am not sure what I want to do. Will the Impala brackets fit the Eldorado Calipers?
Is there anybody out ther making brackets for the Cadillac calipers.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

i dont mean to jump in on the thread but i cant post new topics. if anyone is interested i have a set of these brackets for the rear disc brake conversion on the c10. to go along with the brackets i have the caprice calipers (new), caprice rotors (new) mounting hardware, brake line adapters, and calipers bolts. all you would need to complete the swap would be the port. valve and pads. make me an offer.

I think that still qualifies as a FS ad even though you didnt start a thread. I suppose you could always head over HERE and become a site supporter.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

We need a side by side comparison of the Impala and camaro brake swaps which one is bigger, thicker, which calipers are better and which one stops better and faster.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

If you already have the caliper cores, all the parts will be around $250 depending on where you get the parts. If you don't have cores and have to pay the core charge, it will be around $300-$325, again depending on your local parts price. That includes LOADED calipers, brake hoses, rotors, my brackets and the metric brake line adapter. Camaro calipers are slightly higher, but not by much. They also need a e-brake cable.

The prop valve is not included, and that could range from a part house unit from a Vette or a new one from CPP, which are $99.99 I believe.

oscareltemblo - The setup is very similar between the Impala and Camaro calipers, but the main difference is the Camaro uses an integrated e-brake, and the Impala does not.

Either way, they are a very cost effective way to get rear discs with over the counter parts that are available anywhere since these are very common vehicles.
