I did with the brake best rotors but ended up going with duralast rotors no problem

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

So the outside brake pad was rubbing on the Brake Best rotors but not on the Duralast rotors?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks for confirming that. I have a customer that is having this problem, and I have been trying to figure out why. This is the first I have heard of the pad rubbing since the first few I made. I then made a change to compensate, and hadn't heard of this issue till now. I kind of thought it could be manufacturing tollerances with the pads and/or rotors.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Hoping CaptFab or someone else can lend some expertise/experience: I am wondering if I need to route new brake lines and if so what bore size to compensate for the change from drum to disks.

Basically wanting to make sure i have proper pressure everywhere needed.

Current Set-up:
- Front : ECE Drop/Disk Brake Kit
- Rear: CaptFab D52 brakes (with the astro van rotors and caddi e-brake calipers)

Master Cyl :
- Wilwood Manual Master - Part #
- 1" Bore (Same as Corvettes Ran) but i am going to call wilwood before ordering to be sure

Currently I have the stock Drum/Drum Lines front to rear

Should I route new lines either with a pre-bent kit or bend my own, and what size line should i be looking for?

Sorry Capt. Soon as I posted I thought it might be high jacking the thread

So I posted a new thread topic Here:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...22#post5216322

Thought it might help anyone else trying to run this setup also.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

They're still the same price as in post #1.....$230.00 plus a flat rate shipping of $10.00. So a total of $242.00 to your door regardless of where you live in the USA.

Captain,

I'll be looking to buy some of your brackets in the near future. Are you still looking at producing the brackets and levers for the ebrake on the El Dorado calipers in the near future? Thanks for sharing all of your info. Much appreciated.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I do still have plans of reproducing the levers and brackets. I did have some levers laser cut, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to finish them up yet.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Capt'n - Any more thought or update on reproducing the levers?

I already have the brackets and being able to get the levers from you too and buy the reman calipers from a parts store would be a huge move forward for everyone

I haven't been able to locate any in a junkyard so this is my only current option: http://tsmmfg.com/3121.htm

Issues with the TSM calipers seem to be since they are New and not rebuilt calipers, TSM made some design changes so you cannot swap the calipers/brackets out from your local parts store with reman parts if you ever have any issues.

The PO of my truck put a front end out of a 84 on my 68 I will have to measure the front rotors but I beleive they are the 1 inch will have to check this weekend . My quistion is if this is the case is it okay to run 1 inch in the front and the 1 1/4 in the rear?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The thickness of the rotors really doesn't affect the braking bias. That is done with sizing the caliper pistons and regulating the fluid flow thru the use of a proportioning valve, either fixed or adjustable. So to answer your question, you should be fine with 1" rotors on the front and 1-1/4" on the rear. Let me know when you are ready for a set of these brackets.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes. All '71-'87 C/K series use the D52 calipers. But some are for the 1" thick rotor and some are for the 1.25" thick rotor.

Do these require a longer wheel stud, or is the rotor hat of similar thickness to the drum?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The rotor hat is thicker than a drum. Some guys are running the same wheel studs, and others are changing to a little longer studs. I'd say it depends on what wheels you are running.
