Re: LT1 GenV swap

Drew up and cut out the transmission cross member pieces out. Didn't have the stock one, and if I did, probably still wouldn't use it lol. Waiting on the hole saw bit to arrive to finish it.

Similar design I used on the LS BMW

Plumbed the fuel system. Ran out of the push loc fittings, needed one more 45*, so a 90* was put on just to get it finished.

Proper 5bar fuel presssure regulator

Just got it started a few minutes ago after some quick trouble shooting... now it's going on hold again. Have another harness to mod, waiting for a set of custom header flanges to arrive so I can make a set of long tubes for it.

Clint, I have a set of LT flanges that I won’t use. I don’t remember what I paid for them but if your interested...

Re: LT1 GenV swap

87chevy, what did you use to control your trans?

I found out the trans is a 2013 and the motor/pcm is a 2015. I’ve tried 3 tuners and no luck so far. It’s stuck in 1st gear.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

How do they know its a 2013 6l80? Using the stock 2015 ecu... do you have HPTuners? If so you can read out the data, post that on HPTuners site and ask of they can do a segment swap. I've only rehashed 2015's to 2014 If they didn't have vats2.
I got a 2015/16 flood transmission taking up space on the garage. Would more than likely need a rebuild just to be safe. Havnt taken the pan off, just stuffed it under my table saw.. I bought it with a hydrolocked motor for mockup before in-game across the good one I have now.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Ya know... I think I have been BS’d again. Spoke to clinebarger today, just need to change out the valve body/Tcm. He said the only issue is when they come from different types of vehicles, 2013 car vs a 2015 truck, also he said the guy doing the programming could have fried it if he doesn’t have the correct equipment.

Thought?

The tag on the side of the trans decoded it’s a 2013...

I don’t have squat, I’m relying on others and what they say..possibly my issue all together.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Hopefully you get the trans sorted out.

Got another swap harness wraped up.

Still waiting on the header flanges, hopefully they will ship out late this week. Once headers are made I'll reinstall the fenders and hood and take it around the block.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Still haven’t gotten the trans fixed. New VB/TCM and still can’t program the trans TCM. Checked continuity from TCM plug to data lync connector and all is correct there.

My head is swimming in a lake of frustration on this...could there be something wrong with the ECM?

There is only 2 other wires that would be modified for the TCM, battery constant and the crank/run.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Hours and hours worth of cad gets me this far. Exhaust ports exactly centered on 1 3/4 tube. I chose 1 3/4 since I have lots of bands left over and the port as well, when a 1 3/4 tube is shaped like a rectangle, the same size. I'm not to crazy about the flanges I ordered and received so drew my own.

Adapters screwed into the nutserts

Just threw some tubes on it just cause.

Mann, the MDF flange is way better than a steel flange and a starter tube in said flange with the insert adapter.. this way is much much much more stable and won't fall out! So wish I had done this on the last set of headers I built!

Hope to get the driver side modeled tomorrow and maybe get started on chopping it out of tube. Still need to make another saw fixture for the u-bends

87, do you do tuning? If so, would you mind answering some questions for me. I can get a tuner here that is willing or able to fix my issue.

Please pm me your number and best time to call, if your ok with me calling.

Thanks

Re: LT1 GenV swap

PM sent

Got the driver side mocked up. Wound up sending my drawing file of the header flange to the later cutter, was not happy with the stainlessworks flange. Those should be done in a few days.

Thought about sending them out once I have them welded up and sell them but speed engineering says they will be making them at some point so not sure if its gonna be worth it.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Mocked in the a massive 19" 600 watt pwm fan. The radiator core is 19" tall.. think it was meant to be.

Shows the gap between fan and core, will get pushed away a little more
The wood strips are 3/4, gonna use some 1x1 aluminum as a frame and rivet a piece of sheet to the frame.

Since I do t have a metal brake wide enough for the sheet metal, the 1x1 square tubing frame should work out. I'll bend a piece for the top, to cover the radiator and one for the bottom part so fan pulls all the air from the core area.

Need to do some research on what other companies use as far as thickness and see who has a sheet or scrap large enough for this project.

New header flanges should be in Thursday along with the u-bends.. and I work the following Saturday

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Recieved the header flanges and other bits today

Extra bits that should make header tube forming easy once the transition from port shape to round is made

Game plan is to use a grinder to make the transition and simply run a bolt through them to align it, then cut some grooves length wise and weld a bead in the groove. Cut some le grhs of tube and take em to work and use the press to form it.. could use a hammer .. well will see.

Using a hammer on the exhaust tube forming cone took some serious swings but the press made easy work of forming my transitions.

2.5 to 3" yes they sell transitions but way over priced for what they are. 2 cheap transitopms that arnt as smooth as the ones the fool made cost as much as the tool.. no brainer.. and the good ones are $$

For kicks I shrunk a 3" to 2.5.. smooth as butter!

Clint

Made an extra set of flanges if anyone is looking to make their own headers. I got plenty of extra inserts to make an extra tube former.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Sharing the exhaust u bend fixture I've made.

Made the back fence tensioner out of a scrap away bar link. A regular bolt works too. I had to use a regular bolt for the stait cuts due to the lack of space.

Makes it easy as pie to duplicate the plastic version. The back fence makes it so much safer too. Also works for any size tube if the chop saw can handle it. Metal saw blade is the best thing as the abrasive deflects to much to be accurate

Re: LT1 GenV swap

I've made a L83 swap harness for someone and they bailed. Will fit short beds/long beds with stock tank location or short bed with cell in the rear between frame rails as this one was made for a short bed with a cell on the rear between the rails. Can provide measurements if needed. 750$ shipped with exchange of a stock harness.

Has provision for driver side alternator. Wires ran in loom and has ECU pins already crimped incase driver side alt is needed.

Harness is e85 ready

The white wood panel is just to hold the bulkhead and fuse block during wiring it. Cad drawing with the template to cut out will be provided.

8 ga power feed, starter, ignition and fan output (pwm) are the wires needed to be connected.

Has a separate interior harness and fuel harness for ease of install.

Even though this is not the for sale section, figured this would be the best spot for it.

Not sure, but defintatly didn't fit.. someone will buy them and post their review.
They mentioned having the motor 1" rear offset.. I have my motor pushed back as far as it could go, mount brackets close to vacuum pump and compressor.
