My '59 Apache

I've decided to paint just the dash instead of the entire interior. I'll shoot some epoxy primer on it, then the color I've chosen followed a clear coat. The engine compartment is ready to paint at the same time. I have the truck all masked and ready, not shown in this pic. In the photo I've scuffed the surface, it looks like primer but is not. I did wash the floorboard and painted some rust oleum on it. I received some sound deadener mat just today! I'm a little excited to think I could be installing my engine fairly soon if all goes well!

Yes, the silver grey is good, but I'm partial to it. Dash and firewall turned out great, I know how much work goes into that.

Actually, I'm not sure what color to call it as it changes every time I look at it or when I take a picture. lol But I like it! I hope shooting the clear coat later today doesn't change it too much. I'm very proud of my radio patch panel, a lot of work pays off(not literally).

A lot of the silver/pewters are like that can go from gold tints to bright silver depending on the light and what it is reflecting. I have a favorite interior building paint that is that way, it will pick up and reflect what ever tones the surrounding finishes are so I do not have to worry about the client having warm or cool tones in the furnishings. Nice thing is that they go with just about any interior/exterior paint or upolstry scheme so if you change those down the line you do not need to redo the interior.

I'm really tickled how my paint came out and that I got the Apache back on the ground once again! I plan to push the truck out of the garage to do some much needed cleaning of the garage! omg!



Yes, I seem some primer~ I'm thinking to go ahead and use the boxing plates, kind of dumb I know after having painted. The reason I put off the plates was due to the brake lines and on the passenger side, the tranny lines and fuel lines. Kind of worried about the lines ratteling or rubbing a hole in the lines and not knowing it. I'll just have to work on it and make the plates work. Plus the plates on the drivers side would give strength to the bracket that I made for the heim joint. Then that darned brake lever doesn't line up with the hole in the floorboard despite unbolting the entire unit and moving it to position the brake lever. It's just a tad and I thought about taking my die grinder and making the hole just a little larger.


definitely going to have to get some new rotors, or just clean these up, they'll probably clean up ok.

I love the way my truck looks on the ground! It's been up on the tall jack stands for so long, I forgot how it was on the ground, now seems kind of small!lol

I wish I had a larger garage too! ok, that's it for today! ; )

Thanks Kim, but I know it's going to be a while, and that's OK! If I finish, I'll have to look for another project! This afternoon, Gary and I (husband) are heading to Conroe where there is a very large swap meet where I'm going to pick up my wiring harness from a company Hotrodwires, and they also have other things like windshield wiper motors and even elelctric windows, switches, etc. Plus we'll get to walk around aimlessly looking at used stuff! should be fun!

I'm having mixed emotions about the headers that I bought. They weren't expensive, 100 bucks. I see I have plenty of room for whatever I want. I bought the huggers thinking that I wasn't going to have much room (doah!) I found these Sanderson's on ebay, probably get up to what the guy paid for them, but I like that there's more clearance around the spark plugs and I think that the hugger header may make the engine run hotter as they are so close to the block. But I would kind of like the long tube headers or mid length. I like headers, and would like headers, not stock exhaust manifolds.
Any advice is always appreciated! ; )

Conroe swap meet was great. I found a fantastic fleetside tailgate and a bunch of trim parts.

We got there around 11ish, I bought my wiring harness, after spending 500 with hotrod wires, Gary said it was time to go! He was worried I might find something else to buy

Glad you found some needed parts, but no door?

Well, ordered my front windshield and can pick it up tomorrow here in Houston. 150bucks,but they don't install at the customers home! He said it takes two people and special tools. I said I'm another person and quite capable of "helping". But nooo~ so where do I order the best windshield rubber, one that makes installing this glass easier?

Bending and shaping tranny lines. ; ). Had to just guess as to where to end the lines. I'll figure out what to do when the transmission is in ; )

The holes in the passenger side apron is where heater and AC lines will come in.

Well, I had the metal that Dave Chapman had cut for me long ago to box the engine compartment. I almost didn't install them, but this morning I went ahead and welded them into place, like poof! they're installed!. Kind of bummed that they are so difficult to make out in the photo! Black is difficult to capture in a photo! I may paint the frame another color, at least in the engine compartment, or not. However, it's probably not the prettiest boxing job, but for me, it's fine; )
