Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Are you using part number PT298 the colors are not correct on your connector (the diagram is correct) but will still work below is a pic from BWD website for part number PT298 with the correct color code. Note the purple and brown wires.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Yes, but... Here's the problem... The one on the left is the one from the diagram. The one on the right is the one I have. Also, the diagram does not actually show enough prongs for the connector. Even the factory connector has two prongs on the left.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Okay, so the extra red wire is a way to wire something up that you want to always have power, in run, accy, off, and start. Such as??? Load limits?? Effects on the rest of the system?? The two purple wires on the diagram go on the SOL tab, second from left (the one you can't see on the diagram). The brown wires are correct (ACC). And the rest looks good. So, in other words, other than being a bit vague, the diagram IS correct. On a side note, nice work on the diagrams. If all that's true, then the wire that's missing goes to the "NFW Safety switch". Excuse my ignorance, but is that another way of saying Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)?? If that's the case, then awesome, because my truck never had one. Am I getting too far off topic here? I've been told I thread jacked already, so I'm trying to learn some online etiquette. Enough questions yet???

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Toejam, the bottom wire seems to be a double of the wire that has the fusible link on it from the battery. Look where the power wire splits into four wires. One of those wires is supposed to have a fusible link on it and doesn't. They go the same place. I think the wire on the top is the same deal. It's trying to show the two wires with fusible links on them, but instead of showing it on the proper wire, the wires have been duplicated.

never thought it would be that hard to figure out. Just something that was driving me crazy. Not that that's hard to do.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Yes, the two fuses are for the Ammeter so don't mess with them. Your diagram isn't complete all the way way to the dash or you would probably have found where they went. If one or both of the fuses burn out, the gauge will not work.
That is not the best place to pick up your 12 Volts. The red wire that goes from there back over to the battery is already serving as the Alternator charging wire and provides the shunt for the ammeter. It doesn't need you tying accessories onto it. I would recommend replacing that single pin insulated junction next to the battery. That one is to small and probably ready to crumble into 40 year old dust. That is where you should tie in your new accessories, next to the battery. A lot of guys replace the original insulated post with one from a S10 and that is very similar to what you will find in a flaps. If you have a lot of accessories you could use two S10 posts. One would hold the battery wire and all original wires. A jumper from there to a second S10 post that would hold all of the new accessories. I found a small fuse box with a large post on the bottom to hold all of the original wires. The fuses feed the various accessories as well as some relays in the corner. In case you were wondering the radiator over-flow bottle is from a '70s Nova. |

I also have the original CAD documents from Edmond a few years back. I can't vouch for their accuracy but all looks well, and it's an AutoCAD so you can always modify (which is why I wanted it with all my junkyard upgrades). If anybody wants the AutoCAD version, just PM your e-mail address to me and I'll get it to you. Or, somebody could e-mail the high-res versions of these to me at the e-mail address above and I'll just host these files along with the high-res pdf's. (Edmond just gave me permission to host the CAD files, so long as he keeps the credit, so: THIS PROFESSIONALLY RENDERED CAD DOCUMENT AND ASSOCIATED FILES ARE ENTIRELY THE PRODUCT OF EDMOND'S HARD WORK. WE ALL OWE HIM AND ONLY HIM OUR DEEPEST GRATITUDE. So there it is. Credit where credit is due. Thanks again. You're a lifesaver.
