Re: Project: white knight 1967 step

The bed wood and strips look great in the pics.
Too bad about the drive shaft and starter, It seems like nothing goes easy any more.
I think I voted for the 383 if you replace the six, but I think that the six is just plain coooool.

Re: Project: white knight 1967 step

Just thougth i'd throw a quick update in . Been working on the little stuff that doesn't make for good pictures . Head light adjuster , reverse lights , prindle light , glove box light , wiring the evap blower , dome light wiring , added speakers under the seat . Ended up with a 73' truck wheel on it for right now . Thing is starting to come together . All the little details that are needed at the end take alot of time .

Looks like the Luv is gonna get a new home . I got an offer i can't refuse for it . I just haven't seen the cash yet . Camaro is slow going , but if the Luv sells it will progress alot quicker . 49 is slated to be finished by Christmas .

Roofers are starting tommorow to repair the hurricane damage , so that's starting to get back to normal also . I'll be glad to not have concrete floors again .

Very sorry to hear about the LUV, but I sure understand. Sometimes the best deals are made when you really don't want to sell something.
Glad to hear about the house repairs. Did the Ins. co. treat you good enough?
Pics of the '49 would be nice also.

Re: Project: white knight 1967 step

Got a little bit done today . I sold the 6 'er to a1953mdl ( spraybombs dad Lee ) so i pulled it tonight . I will be pulling the 355 out of the Luv tommorow and it will be going in . I have a new motor for the Luv and a 383 in the shop ( someday to be finished ), but this motor has been good to me and I like it . So in it goes tommorow . I am gonna paint it the interior color . any way goty the trans yoke no and just about everything to finish and get this one rolling . Also bought a posi unit today and might be upgrading axles . Going to try a set of Pypes street pro stainless mufflers 2.5" all the way back with headers .

I also scored a 10 bolt 8.5 from a 74' Nova today for $140 3.08 open . For those of you that aren't familair with 1st gen Camaros , this is the strongest bolt in axle for these cars and parts are readily avalible for them . The housings alone are going for $650 on feebay . Anyway here are the pics .

Re: Project: white knight 1967 step

92' 2 bolt truck block , vortec nodular iron crank , powdered metal rods , trw 2256 flattops , balanced within 1/2 a gram , XR288HR hydraulic roller 236/242 @.050 .520/.540 lift on a 110 , Gm aluminum fastburn heads w/210 runners making 10.2 to 1 and is pump gas friendly . Edelbrock rpm air gap . MSD HEI . demon 650 double pump (which will prolly be switched for a 625 road demon i have , Camaro will get the double pump ) alan grove pulley system . Will eventually go to serpintine . all sfi stuff . This little motor made 360 HP to the ground and 575 HP on the spray . It has been 10.20 @ the track . I have had good luck with it and it would be a shame to stuff it in a corner . it has great oil pressure and compression .

I guess in time you will get use to the low power of the 8 vs the 6. LOL
Thanks for the great deal on the six.

Just got in tonight . Started pulling the motor out of the Luv about noon . Found out about half way through all the major races for the rest of the year are cancelled ( thank goodness ) . Motor is in it's retirement home . All the bearings looked good and compression test was great . Anyway i'll let the pics do the talking cause im tired and have to work tommorow and all weekend .

Any "excuse" will do to justify that new posi.
You really will need it with the LUV engine.

Where is the yard in the very first post? The one with all the trucks?
Any good junk yards in Baytown? I need a front clip from a 67-68.

Sure could use the front clip off that red stepper.

Mine is a 68 with 71-72 front clip and I want it back to original.

Re: Project: white knight 1967 step

This thing is visous with one wheel peel ! i put down over 60 yards of black in one shot . everywhere i go somebody is looking at it or talking about it . I got my "break in" mufflers on it right now , so it's a bit loud and it cams hard 236/242@ .050 with .520/.540 on a 110 , i mean come on Ain't no hidin that . I put a coolent reseivor (spl?) on it and replaced the driver side header gasket as it blew on start up . Hooked the back speakers up ( gotta have jams ) and adjusted the idle air mix . I still only have 28* timing in it and the throttle linkage is only @ 3/4 stroke . Im guessing 13 flat with a posi on drag radials @ 35/36 degrees and all the carb . The tranny barks second every time ( hard ). Even next to the law , which happened twice today . Gotta love $1.82 for super no lead , burned a 10 spot today for sure . prolly gonna have to put the spare down if i don't get the posi installed soon . The front sets right , but i need to go anothe rinch or so down on the rear . Got all my Vortec serpintine stuff today also .

The yammieguy , i got a hook up on a 67 front clip . I'll check on it next week . And that's spray bombs shop in the first pic and the red 68' is to clean to part out .
