Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

I plan to hit the firewall hard tomorrow. The good news is I finished all the steering and got the truck on all four wheels the bad news is you have to wait till tomorrow for pictures. The to do list is shrinking daily!

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Finished gutting the cab of everything I didn't want anymore. Then got busy on the firewall. Got pretty far in 4 hours then ran out of wire. Going to get some more shortly then back at it tomorrow. Also decided to move several wire loom locations but did not get a picture of that today.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Went ahead and wire wheeled the wire harness gutter out and did weld through primer on the back of all the panels and in the gutter. I figured I mine as well cap the gutter and trim the center rise in it so its smooth flowing all the way across. I will probably be the only one to notice.

Glad you guys enjoy it.

Well instead of spending my last day off resting for a long time I'm firing up the welder. I do it for the fans. Cheers.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Got a bunch of little things done but nothing really picture worthy. Air system just needs wired to be complete. Have to do fuel and brake lines and the chasis will be ready for the body. The firewall is ready for body work and paint. Then the fun task of under cab clean up and inside floor clean up. Unfortunately i wont have another day off till the middle of next week to make any noticeable progress. Just figured an hour here and there will wrap up the small things and I can use my full days to knock out the big progress. Theres your update, cheers

Coming along awesome!

So whats the big nut for on the four link arms? Is it for adjustment, do you have reverse threads on one of the hiem joints?

Yes they are right and left hand threads so I can adjust everything without taking it apart. I could have just knarled the bars in the center but I figured I would try something different.

Thank you.

Looks like I'll have to put a pin in Double Tap for a few weeks since there's no way I'll finish it for the upcoming show I was gunning for. So I will instead invest my time in my silverado so I will still have something cool to take.

Well the show has come and gone and Im giving 100% attention to wrapping this project up. Finished most of the wiring and its sitting on its own air power now.

Was able to get it outside for the first time. I've been doing tons of little things that would bore you all to tears so I'll just give you pictures.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Thanks guys. I'm really enjoying just looking at it. Sad news while I was in the garage this morning I noticed a puddle of power steering fluid. Looks like I'll need a new power steering pump.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Finished all the shift linkage and reangled the carrier bearing so it's parallel with the front shaft. Ordered front shocks and new gauge face plate. Just received my awesome seat cover. Looks great just need a good seat to put it on.
