Re: PO has me PO'd
Got a couple minutes to go back and work on my fuel lines while i wait for some tools and parts to come in....SS axle brake lines, and extended braided T hose. Also, just ordered from Jegs is my MSD noise filter ( 8830 )....EMI be damned
In the first pic, they seem to be rubbing the two rivets, may have to build a standoff, as i dont know the long term effect of this condition.....or grind a notch in the rivet head 20131108_125257 by jarosaj, on Flickr 20131108_125153 by jarosaj, on Flickr

Re: PO has me PO'd
Got a couple hours to continue on my fuel lines. This copper/nickle flares very easily, unless you put your barrel nut on backwards ( dah), you wont have to flare it twice. I used a single flare, as i havnt heard any need for a double flare on fuel injection. Also, i flared to 45 degrees, since i read -6 and -8 are unversal sizes and dont require a 37 degree flare. Dont ask me why.....but,if i have any leaks ill know why
The last double clamp has to be moved closer to the top of the frame, some clearance problems at shock mount on the lower fuel line Now, its on to the flexible hose from russel, have to build a transition clamp from vertical to horizonal 20131110_102108 by jarosaj, on Flickr 20131110_102316 by jarosaj, on Flickrj 20131110_103032 by jarosaj, on Flickr

Re: PO has me PO'd
OK, this morning i finally got the gas tank mounted up in the factory location....ended up making 5/16" shims to put on top of the oem location spacers ( keeps tank from shifting side to side ). Also, took off a black electrical box on the fuel pump, dont know what it was for, but im guessing some sort of vent.
Sheesh, am i glad that problem is solved. Tons of trial and error went into that project, thought i had failed many times, but persistance paid off. If that project didnt work, it would have put my whole fuel injection system swap at risk, plus the 400.00 investment for tank and pump If i had only known the the placement of the pump was so critical, i wouldve, couldve moved the pump forward a inch for clearance. Oh well, everyone has 20/20 hindsight Now, with that problem solved, i can move onto my fuel lines 20131112_124701 by jarosaj, on Flickr

Looking good. Just keep plugging away and you'll be ready to fire it up soon.

Can't argue progress...looking good. What did you decide to do with the fuel lines contacting the rivets?

Ill not lie to you, and say that i was not very concerned about this system not working, im really a stock kinda guy. This is my first attempt at modification, and i would look like a total idiot in front of my peers and mentors if i didnt pull it off. Abit nerve racking having 60,00 gearheads looking over your shoulder at all times. Plus the fact that i would have thrown away $4,000.00, which would have made the CFO unhappy....gotta love her for keeping me in check lol Ive decided to make the 5/16" shim and anti-shift device (for lack of a better term) as one, ordered the 3/4" stock from McMaster Carr. Gotta luv having a well stocked hardware store at your disposal... Tully, i think it would be better to build a standoff, rather then mess with the structual integrity of the rivet. These 4 rivets support the front of the spring hanger, and i wouldnt want to be driving down the road and have that system fail. Could get ugly real quick... Dale, i went with 'form over function', nothing wrong with 'function over form' Glad youre making progress on that wiring harness. Youre a braver man then me, tackling that harness. No more carbs! HGS, your truck looks cool blasting thru the snow, plus that one pic show cases all the work you put into your hood, great job. Enjoy driving it on those starry nights. Wait, wasnt that a song...Starry, Starry nights, give it a minute, and the melody will come

Re: PO has me PO'd
3/4" stock came in today, so i thought id play around with the radii required to fit up to the tank. Drew a couple referance lines (.200 ) down the top and sides, and used the old lead file to shape it. Just use a file brush to keep the teeth clean, and there will not be any gouging

Re: PO has me PO'd
Not much, tis the season, and my mind is on the wifies present(dangly earrings $)
But, i did get the tank fitted to the frame, but 5/16" drop really messes with the filler neck Got the ss brake lines from in line tube, and the pass. side is 3/4" too long. Also, put new SS washer head bolts in my wheel cylinders (totally stainless) has the correct bolt head size, i went oversize.... First time i used the master series coating, really nice stuff. This filler neck is giving me fits, may have to relocate, or ideas? 20131119_125259 by jarosaj, on Flickr 20131204_111341 by jarosaj, on Flickr 20131206_103805 by jarosaj, on Flickr

Re: PO has me PO'd
I was able to use my old filler neck and had it welded on the new tank with minimal install issues. I used marine hardwall fuel hose to complete the job.

Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks tully for taking the time for your response, but at this time, i think ill just move on to the next part of the build, ie fuel lines. Put the filler neck behind me, to save my sanity.
Ive got plenty to do in other areas, and just tired of focusing my attention on my tank

I might have a filler neck in my parts stash. I can dig around and let you know if you still need one.
