Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Thanks guys
Joe,
my goal is to get it done and drive across the country
We’ will have to see on the timing
There are several shows I want to hit up this summer
Independence being one of them

Kirk,
I’ll buy your ticket. You want to come in march? Or April??

Bodybolt,
Funny you asked
The guy I bought it from told me it’s a combo unit
And he heard some chatter over the cb
When I turned it on, music was playing
I thought it was coming from the dash
But it actually has speakers wired up top
I didn’t even pay attention that it was an 8track
I guess I’ll have to find one to see if that functions

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

I used to have a "Neil Sadaka" 8 track tape in my case back in the 70s. My friends gave me grief about it all the time. Never cared for the music on it, but I swear that tape was indestructable. No player could eat it. I wish I still had it, I'd send it to you so you could hear that baby work.

The belt in the tape player is likely rotted but simple to replace. You should make sure the CB antenna/cabling is still good and check the SWR before you xmit. That'll be a fun accessory on the road. You should hear lots of activity during the day on 6, the Super Bowl.

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

hey Eric that van is super cool! like the rest, I'm anxious to see what you do with it..

my only suggestion is make sure the fridge works - a man can tolerate a lot more if he's got plenty of cold beer!

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Is that van a 72? When I was around 20 I bought a blue 72 van from an old carpenter I knew. It was ugly but ran great, turned out it had a 400sb in it.
Don't remember what I did with it, at that time I would buy and sell cheap cars continuously. But I remember that thing would burn rubber as long as you stayed on it!

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

It’s got a 350 in it
Turbo 350 tranny which I found surprising since it’s a 1ton
I drained 15 gallons of old gas out of it
Replaced all the rubber fuel lines
It still ran rough so I pulled the carb to get it rebuilt

It has it original a/c
One I’ve never seen before
A unit that is bolted to the floor between the seats

I’m really hoping I can get it working again
Seems all intact

Plus, a custom fan on the dashboard

I’ve got a Yeti 125 that will be the new refrigerator
These things stay cold with ice for long time
And I’m probably going to ditch the stove and large propane tank
Underneath the van
For a more compact setup

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Definitely some crazy interiors there

I never thought about it, but like that article said the van culture could care less about poping the dog house, or even what was under it

It was all about the interior !
The gaudier the better !!
