Re: Vintage picture thread

Heres one. 31 Chevy 5 window built in the 60's by my great uncle who still owns it. 64 Impala 283 with dual quad high riser. 4 speed, 57 chevy rear end and metallic green paint with scales painted on the trunk. It has been parked for around 30 years and he won't let anyone buy it or even get it running ( believe me I've tried ) so it can go out for referance of how they were actually built back then. This pic was taken in the early 70's. Check out the silver El Camino in the background.

Re: Vintage picture thread

Here's a pic, taken in October of '63. The truck is a new '64, and the Impala is, too. The dirt track car runs a Chevy and they were getting ready to go to Memphis, which had an asphalt track. The racer would hook up so well it spent more time standing, than rolling. On dirt.....different story. The cars belonged to a guy I work with, who still has the '67 LWB Chevy he bought new.

Love the look of that truck! Between this one and Delmo's Blackbird build, I want to paint my '63 black...

EightBanger-Thanks for that picture of Little America. It's in Southwestern Wyoming on I-80, about 20 miles west of Green river, Wyo. It's changed a lot since then, but it's still there and open for business. I drive past it twice a week on my way to where I'm working these days, in Rock Springs, Wyo. It's owned by Earl Holding, who owns Sinclair Oil.

Some old family photos. The 47 Dodge dad bought in Seattle to move to Kansas. Loaded everything he could in it. Had to have been a long drive in 50. The 55 Chevy I remember the morning dad brought it home. I'm in the first and last photo.

Re: Vintage picture thread

ok....really need to pull out all the old photos and scan them in. got pics of my grandpa's 78 blazer that was chief tow rig until my dad bought his 72 burb in 1983. a year later we picked up a 71 Holiday camper and we have a ton of images of the two. that very trailer is now sitting in my driveway and once it is fixed up a little i plan to haul it behind my 72 Burb c20. my dad's 72 was a c10 highlander package custom deluxe (mine is just a reg c/d) and was darker blue w/ white roof, tripod mirrors and yankee chrome cab lamps (doing the mirror swap and putting the actual lights from his truck on my burb). this is not a vintage pic and i've never actually hitched up my truck yet (used my dads 99 burb c1500 to bring the trailer down from my grandmother's) but you get the idea:

and yes eightbanger, she is gorgeous little thing! i'm almost 32 now and she's likely old enough to be my mother....oh well.....

Top left my mom getting some cold ones out of the cooler in Key West.
They would pull the little smokey trailer there every year for 3 -4 weeks of vacation. 67 camaro
Next was a 68 camaro that we had and the Impala in the back ground was the Chevrolet dealer back then from West Jefferson NC ( Gratham's)who were good friends of ours.

M&D getting the camper ready are just getting back home from Fla. Nobody can remember which. Newton Conover NC. 67 Camaro

My brother & me standing in front of the 67 Camaro, I was 7 years old!

The last 2 pictures are after James one of my older brothers bought the car from dad. Clairmont NC.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Your more than welcome pritch...I must say I'm really glad to hear that it still exists, perhaps if you were ever able you could take a pic of it now and post it. Places like that are, and always were, for outsiders like me, quintessentially American and just plain perfect.

Re: Vintage picture thread

There are some great pictures here! I don't have a lot of pictures from the early vehicles I bought and sold. It's unfortunate I wasn't really into taking pictures back then, because I've had an incredible number of trucks, as well as cars. Unlike many of the vehicles you all lhave owned over a long period, I've always had a tendency to buy and sell, not holding on to a vehicle for very long.

Here are a few pictures I've found and scanned in...The '55 is from Indiana, I believe this would be summer (looking at the corn, lol) of 1970. The '69 Chevelle was a BB, 4-spd, SS and the picture was taken in a parking lot at Dover AFB, DE in 1973. The '57 was setting in my front yard in Woodside, DE and is probably from 1975. Finally, from Hawaii, the '70 Olds is a W-31 car, 350 Olds powered, B&M auto. This was a wicked quick car. Managed to stuff some 15X10 Cragars with N50 15s, all in the wheelwell. This picture was taken at Bellows (a recreational area) where we were staying after packing our house up for the move back to the mainland. Shipped the car back to Oklahoma and sold it in 1981.

I love the pics, eightbanger! I'm amused with the last pic of the set... no hearing protection. You know they didn't have any hearing later on in life.
