Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

Neat thread, I don't know why I haven't found it sooner. Seems like we truck guys have a lot of similar interests. Here's a 1952 Garton Speedster that I bought about 30 years ago. I'm not a collector but I saw it at a flea market and bought it. I don't think the headlights and horn are original but I like them so I never removed them. It does still have the hood ornament which is pretty rare I think.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

A handle snaps on using a seatbelt latch and it pulls like a wagon. It has a full floor in it.

Here are a few more pictures of the car.

The stock version...

Bounty Hunter....

The roll cage is 1/2 inch wire conduit and the shifter is a 60's three speed bike shifter with a weed wacker piston. An old Walkman tape player (You are showing your age if you know what this is) is the sterio and it uses amplified speakers. High tech in 1994.

The gas pedal is a foot dimmer switch cover.

This is the trunk, dual exhaust and wheely bars.

The handle hooks on using a seatbelt latch.

The battery is from a Power Wheels car and powers the headlights and taillights.

The front wheels / suspension are from an old door to door mail cart. It swivels using a standard trans throwout bearing. The black behind the front wheels is the carpeting on the floor.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

I got a little work done today on my 1/2 scale bed wagon. Started doing a little of the body work, and got the inner wheel tubs put together.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

This is a wagon I built for my son. we have another baby on the way so the gears are turning to build another wagon/pedal car.

It even made it onto an episode of my classic car.

Here is a video I made with my nephew when we were testing it out.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

I started this about a week ago to give my son for Christmas. I was going to use a vintage Osh Kosh tub but my truck broke down and I had to find one locally, so this is a new tub. Didn't really have a goal when I started other than I wanted it to be custom and look cool. It's taking on sort of a hot rod vibe now.

I've been very busy with unexpected family matters this past week but I am still trying to get this done. It's helped to keep my mind busy as well. Everything is pretty well there and tacked together right now besides the pitman arm, which my dad said he would try to cut out for me this afternoon. After that, I'll have a roller and I'll just need to finish weld it, cover the seat, trim the side rails, and paint it before Christmas morning. I'm thinking I may end up taking the seat out and adding it later so I don't run out of time.
