Could it because I have LED lights?

Re: Starting a 52 Chevy 3100 Project.

Yes, your LED's could be the cause, as they do not provide enough resistance in the wire to activate the flasher.

You will need to install a resistor into each signal light.

If you have a couple of 1157 (dual filament) sockets, try testing them with standard 1157 bulbs and see if that solves the problem

It works now with the wires switched. Just saying that maybe it would work either way if I wasn't using LED lights.

Re: Starting a 52 Chevy 3100 Project.

LEDs have less draw so the flasher unit will flash slow if at all. Try an electronic flasher, it may work better than the cheap step sister bimetallic style that relies on current draw to heat the bimettallic strip.

I already have an electronic flashter. LED's only worked wired one way. I am thinking if I didnt have LED lights it wouldnt matter and it would work. Oh well I will swap it the wires at some point.

I went with the stock cardboard one. It only took an hour to put it on. I called around to upholstery shops and the cheapest I found was $300 to do a headliner. It was around $65 because I had to buy the center support but if you have that its only $35. You cant beat that. It would not be difficult to glue some upholstery to it as well. I didn't need anything fancy.

Re: Starting a 52 Chevy 3100 Project.

Wired up the stereo and the 6x9 and powered 10" sub woofer. The 6 1/2 speakers in kick panels will hopefully be there this week. Sounds pretty good considering it is missing the 2 front speakers. I guess my next task is the door windows. I am not looking forward to that task.

Does the truck only have classic rock stations?

Re: Starting a 52 Chevy 3100 Project.

looking good! I bought a set of QM MB Quart speakers that are 1/8th a sphere enclosed I figure I will put in the kicks of a truck some day. I had two sets and like a dummy I sold one set, I dont even remember to who! They only made em for a minute, and you never see them for sale any more.

I bet your truck sounds good, thats a fine looking 4th of july pic too!

Funny how as you get older you cannot find stuff that you really like 5 years later. It sounds pretty good but definitely needs to the front speakers. I bought a powered 10" subwoofer for $100 and it sounds pretty good.

I will since its going to my dad but while channel surfing some bumping might have been coming from my garage.

I almost did a newer style double din stereo but glad I did not. I am pretty happy with it. When I put the vents in I tried to mimick the gauge placement. I actually plan to go vintage air so there will be 4 old style matching knobs next to the ignition under the Chevrolet.

Re: Starting a 52 Chevy 3100 Project.

Hi 28Tudor . . . . 1st off - - - a Very Nice Truck .
Great build from start to Driving ; and for one of the best "Causes"...…
your Dad , good on you.

Ok . . . this is just info : I have installed all LED lights on my
Nova ; installed a 'NAPA flasher # 262 , it made my lights work.
But, they would flash 'kinda slow' . . . then, I found this Flasher :
….. AUDEW LED flasher (and its adjustable - rate)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011BTMDQM...novasitecon-20

(better that adding 'load resistors' , to your lights) . . . and, for my LED's
it solved my issue - - - could work for you also, and may be just that simple , as changing your flasher (instead of messing with your wires).
Then, it's cheap enough . . . (was # 12.00 , when I bought it).
Here's my point - - - works great - - - and, I never adjusted a thing
just install . . . like 2 years ago . (I like things that work as
advertised) .
again , very nice truck & . . . . . MAN, it was HOT in Scottsdale on th'
4th . . . . Have a nice day & stay safe …………….

Thanks!!! As far as the flasher it works great with the wires switched. I would assume it would still have the same issue with an adjustable one. I will probably just swap the wires at some point but thanks for the info.

On another note I took it to be aligned today. They said it was near perfect and did not need to be aligned and did not charge me. I aligned it with a tape measure. The did say the idler arm is bad though. It is brand new so I guess I will be swapping that out.
