Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

Yeah. I half ass rebuilt mine to the piont it just looks ok. It would take a ton of coin to get it in the condition yours will be in. Money is always tight so didn't have the time or fundage to go the rought you did. Someday maybe but won't be til my kids are out of the house probably. It's looking real good though.

Awesome!

You know for some reason, I am really drawn to your build, even though I don't usually get into the 4x4's. I can't keep my eyes off of it though.

Thanks....it's because our trucks are bros...70 St. Louis Blazers separated at birth. I'm sure if my truck needed a kidney or a bone marrow transplant, your truck would be the perfect match. Luckily those were the only two things that were good on my truck...so you're safe.

Thanks Mike. I guess it has been pretty quick...but nothing ever seems that way when you're in it. No new pics since she's in her 50 Shades of Gray period. Primer, guide coat, wet sand, repeat.

I have someone doing my body and paint work and you're way ahead of me still. If I attempted my own paint and body I would be looking at 2018 to complete it lol

Don't be fooled Mike...I'm not doing my paint and body either. If you go to the first page of this build thread there's a red Nova convertible on there. The guy who painted that is doing this. It's his shop and he let's me wrench on it...play with axles and brakes and motors and hunt down parts...and do things I might have an aptitude for...but it's all him now, until we get to some more assembly. He let me wet sand on it a bit over the weekend, enough to reinforce the fact that I don't care for paint. There's no joy to me...it's only anxiety...if you're not perfect, you're always judged by the 1% screw up...you can't take any pride in the other 26 outs you got...that last bunt single haunts you. Let me tell you, I'm super glad Eric is on the gun and not me....maybe I should say under the gun

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

hahaha.. I bet he is.. That's cool he let's you wrench at the shop. The guys at my body shop let me come in and sand blast and check on the progress. They should be done with media blasting this week and I'm picking up my frame from the powder coat shop this Friday.

And I know what you mean by that 1%.. That's whole reason I decided to strip the front axle back down again and have it powder coated like the rear axle and all the parts under the hood so it all matches.. I knew it would have bugged me so I made the decision to do it right. It was costly and time consuming experience but I did learn from it.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

A lot of effort going in to getting the window to top fitment fully sorted before the top comes back off. As you know the driver's side was beyond horrible. The track that holds the top to glass weatherstripping had to be moved and some of the top finish lines modified to accommodate that move. The top drip rail on this side was massaged as well to make it match up with the windshield drip better and mirror the passenger side. Glass to top fit is much better...seeing as you can no longer fit your to-go order through without having to roll the window down...but a little more refinement to go yet.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

Mine was primer for years. Window gap looking good. Keep at it. The end is in sight. I wish I had the money to Hand mine off to a good body guy. Eventually I will get a professional paint job. But for now it's rattlecans just to keep it looking decent from a distance.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

Very happy moment when I got home and checked the front steps. Thanks a bunch Tim (TruckSeats). Side panels look outstanding. Looks like TruckWorld does a great job, but from my point of view, it seems like they might be difficult to deal with. Thanks Tim for making this happen. Hopefully the seat covers will be here soon too.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

JUST TO BE CLEAR...vendor TruckSeats (Tim) has been great. The manufacturer, TruckWorld, has been difficult. Their quality is great, but turn around and communication is not. It seems to me that Tim has a hard time going between impatient customers (me) and a difficult manufacturer (TruckWorld).

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

does Truck World have a website? I'd be interested in seeing if they have rear side panels for our Blazers

No website. You have to go through a vendor. I used TruckSeats (Tim) who is obviously on the board here. I ordered from Tim, he in turn ordered from them. They definitely do have side panels. That's who made mine...In fact, TruckWorld may be the only manufacturer of the side panels...I'm not sure they aren't the place Brothers' and others get theirs from...anyone who knows for sure please correct this.

TruckWorld does great work...but they are in no hurry. I tried to order my interior last summer because I knew they'd need a big lead time....but apparently the "scroll die" broke the week before I called...literally. Tim wouldn't even commit to take my order(read:my money) until late fall because he had no guarantees. Now it's February and I've got my side panels...but have no idea when to expect my seat covers...but as you can see by the preceding pics...I've got a little time yet.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

I wonder where he gets them from. Fortunately, for me the only interior that needs replacing is my rear side panels and carpet. I assume these are made in the USA? (AKA China) lol kidding aside, If it takes that long then their quality must be good.

x2 - quality is better IMO than OEM. Lots of real stitching involved and they use the correct walrus grain vinyl.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

Not positive, but were nt all the tops of the dashes a light tan color? I think you are headed towards a 100 point correct truck, right....
Build looks great

Depends on the interior color. My truck was originally a red interior, so the upper dash was flat(dull) red. I guess for the most part it matched the dash pad...saddle would be tan, black for black and so on. They were a flat finish to reduce glare(assuming again). The upper vents were color keyed as well.

...and thanks, but it won't be a 100 point correct truck, (there are plenty of things that are acknowledged incorrect by year and factory standards) but at least we'll give it 100% effort.
