Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Finally got my engine back on Friday, so I spent all day Saturday getting it back together. 60 days it was out of the truck.Today I spent the morning getting the fuel lines ran to the duel carbs. While putting the linkage together I found out that all the parts we're there, i'm missing the linkage for the duel carbs. so I guess I have to wait till I can get the linkage. I can't wait to start this thing up! It sure looks mean!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Great work! Love to see them coming back from the dead like this. I have to do the cab mounts on my 62 C30 as well. Where do you get your parts? I have been looking into various dealers, but since I have the exact same situation as you I thought I'd ask.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Jeepers Creepers,
I got the cab mount from Classic Chevy. It wasn't that hard to do except for the drilling out the spot welds. I did this before I got a spot weld cutter which would have made it even easier. Thanks for complements!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Thanks everybody! Today i added oil, ran the wire to the electric choke, added oil to the trans, started it for a few minutes and the most important item was the new decal! I still have more stuff to do like vacuum line and get in my missing linkage. I called Tom Langdon today and he sent out the linkage this morning. I think I'm going to have to get a new starter because this new compression is wearing out the old one. It's dragging a little.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I went to a show Saturday about 40 min away from home. On the way home I lost oil pressure and the truck started to knock. I think I spun a bearing again in this new motor. Today I pulled out the engine and will take it back to the builder again to find out what happened and see if he will warranty it. It is less than 1 year old and it's back out. So now I am starting phase II of my build. The truck is going back to Brigade blue base/ clear coat, new seat, carpet, oak wood, polished strips, disk brakes and vintage A/C.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Man John sorry to hear about the engine. Looking forward to Phase II. When you are talking about the new color is it different than the current one?

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I'll call the builder tomorrow and see what he says. I think hell fix it since its been 10 months since the rebuild. As far as the color. I'm looking at the original Brigade blue (507) and chrome trim. I'm trying to get from 3rd place placings to 1st!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Phase II has started! I removed the engine and sent it back to the machine shop, dissembled thee bed, removed all the outside hardware and side glass, test fitted the new oak wood, and sanded the inner fenders. All I need to do is remove the front and rear glass and its ready to go to the paint shop. I decided that now is the time I wanted to get the second part going. My buddy keeps beating me at the shows with is 56 F100. You can see in the pic below. While the true is out Ill get the seat done and finally fix the spring that has been killing me. I also did some test stains and I think I'm going with the English chestnut. The lower right one.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Stripped the whole truck, painted the inner fenders and sent it off to the paint shop. I also sent off the seat for spring repairs and a new cover. He did a good job replacing all the bad springs and coming up with a good design for the seat cover. White vinyl and blue tweed.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Just a small update. i have been working on the new wood. As you can see from the pick word doesn't alway come out even. I have a little darker and lighter boards. I guess the contract will look good once its all done. my goal is to have a bout 4 coats of poly after sanding between coats. Its a long process but it will look nice once its done. Still nothing done on the paint except the sanding of the inside. He finally finished so other trucks that was before be so I should be next. I hope it will be done by the end of August.
