slick I was going to por15 it but was worried about welding it then and what happen to it, so i used weldable primer and will paint the inside.

well was able to get some work done with the long weekend. i got my vent boxes buttoned up and got my engine completely done. got all the power steering hooked up and got my new alternator. i was not thrilled with the chrome finish but actually think it breaks it up and could not beat the price for a 1 wire hookup, internal reg and 110 amps.

not bad... no idea on the gearbox...

how are you going to wire this rig? I have heard good and bad on the 1-wire deals...

you mean the alternator setup,right. i think i will use the one wire for ease and clean look. i know you can wire it with the plug but not sure of any advantage?
when you say good and bad, what have you heard. now you have me worried!!

only heard issues of using it with OEM amp gauges... but you are running aftermarket right?

i am not sure yet? i keep going back and forth. i like the look of both but have to do some homework to see if there is any way to get a stock speedo hooked up to the electronic sensor on my tranny?? i know they are mechanical but not sure if anyone makes such a thing or if i will be force to use a modern set of gauges.

On the steering....line up the pitman pointing toward the steering wheel while it is in the straight position, then adjust the tie rods accordingly, driveway alignment!!! Should help some. The POR 15 was a joke!! I didn't do mine, but I did spray it well with a rattle can before and after welding (the best that I could through the kick panel vent) and it has good coverage!

Thank you for the steering advice! I did figure that out after some fiddling. Right now I an working on getting my clutch master cylinder figured out. I think I got it but have to do some rigging on the clutch pedal so that it work perfectly and the plunger does not come out of the back of the MC.

I finally found a clutch master cylinder that I would be able to use for my 99' nv3500 transmission. The one for this year did not have the ears to bolt it to the firewall and was a plastic snap lock. After going thru all of the late model years it was the 92'-94' mc and was able to use my hydraulic line that came with my tranny, so save some money.
Everything worked out great with the brake mc clearance and the way that i bolted it to the clutch pedal. The throuw length on the mc was 1.5" empty and was able to get a total 1.25" empty on the pedal with keeping the plunger on a parallel plane of +/- 1/8" which I am very pleased with. I dont think I will have to wory about the .25" loss cause I figure once it is bled it will hopefully only go an 1" or so with engaging the clutch fully. I have filled it up with fluid and pump it several times and had some pedal there but am going to leave it bleed it self some night till I try final bleeding the system.
Enough rambling, I know what you guys want!

Had got my clutch completely done today! Once I got the stop firgured out and welded on I blasted and powdercoated the whole set up and installed new plastic bushings. Now if I only had a truck I could use it in!

where did you get the bushings from? I assume that you PC'd it in pieces and then reassembled?

i had gotten them from ece when i had placed an order from them. i forget the price but not bad at all.
yep tore it down and then pc'd and put back together. it turned out really nice and tight no woble or wear like it was before!

Thanks Travis, I am getting excited to get the cab done and painted so I can move on to something else. I have the cab like 95% done outside of little clean up things. Then I got digging into drip rails and have some rust issues on the driverside that I have to take care of now.

Thank you propane mine is the green one, IT IS FOR SALE!! Those could be two neat little projects to do and be different which I love! I think it is neat when people do there own style!

I have to rebuild repair mine. I had cut about half out and had to blast underneith. I think I am going to weld it back in and then calk them? I will have to do some homework before I do this will let you know.

Question though. If it's self leveling then how did you keep it from running down the side of the truck where the drip rail turns down behind the door?
