Out for a drive. This will be my ride height once I get my drop spindles installed. Two-three inches off the ground in front. Is just such a big job to do the spindles, ball joints, disc brakes and master/booster. I'll probably do it over the wintertime.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Installed my new carb last month. New aluminum Holley street avenger 670. One of the best mods I've done. Edelbrock carb went into the trash where it belongs. Huge difference in throttle response and power. Starts 10x easier now too. Costs about twice as much as a new Edelbrock 1406, but Worth every penny.

Playing around with my tail lights tonight. Blue dot lens on the right and stock lens on the left. Wow what a difference in brightness! Plus they look pretty cool too.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Tail lights look great too. I am in Cranbrook. I just raised my truck back up this year. But now that it's up, it looks like a 4x4. Might do a 3" drop this winter. Picked up a Blazer last winter, thinking it would look great bagged. Still prepping it for the ICBC inspection. Almost there, just waiting for e-brake lines. Might not get a drive this summer. Running out of time. But have been driving the heck out of the pickup.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Funny, I was thinking of adding the lower moldings to mine. Yours look really good. Might have to order up a set. But then again, I have no other trim or tags, wonder if it would look off.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Mine was exactly like yours when I bought it. All trim and moldings shaved off. The lower trim made a huge difference to the look. Then I added the white roof and it gave it a nice classy look. I think you should do it for sure. You will love it.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Thanks! It's getting there. I'm happy where its at now. I few more things to do. Drop spindles and disc brakes over the winter. Lokar floor shifter, and new carpet and seat and that's about it for now. In a year or so I'll do a Porterbuilt Dropmember and race line 20/22 wheels. Ill rebuild the motor at the same time and cut it down to a shortbed. That will be a major overhaul. I need a better shop before I can even think about doing that.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

New smaller tires front and back. Exactly 1" lower. Now has 215/60r15 fronts and 215/70r15 rears. I'm going to get some 255/60r15 of the same diameter for the rear when I have some extra money to spend. This will do for now. Front control arms are 1" off the ground when aired out. Still no drop spindles yet, and near perfect alignment
