I hate reading posts like this. As long as you're OK, the truck can be fixed.
Sorry about your misfortune.

Got some better pictures
Have it insured for 30,000 that shouldn't cost more then that to fix it back the way it was.

Re: Wrecked my Jimmy today

With it being insured for only $30k you may have to work with them to not total it. Unless you don’t mind having a salvage or rebuilt title. My dads insurance co. Totaled 2 of his 4 cars damaged in hurricane sandy. Now 2 are rebuilt titles and 2 are still clean. I don’t know how much that effects value on a truck but on a corvette the value difference can be a lot.

I've always wondered about the strength of factory two hooks and judging by the looks of yours they are plenty stout, sorry about the fender bender.

So glad you're ok as well. Couldn't happen to a nicer truck. You've got an amazing attitude about it...if it helps I'll be sick for you (already am). I hope you'll start a build thread...can't wait to see her back in form.

Re: Wrecked my Jimmy today

Glad to see your ok and not hurt. Sorry to see the amount of damage on your Jimmy.

On a separate note you said the other driver ran the stop sign? So wouldn’t the cost of repairs be on her or her insurance company not yours? Just one more note be careful with the insurance companies so they don’t try and screw you over or if they total it don’t fully pay for deperciated value with a salvage title or worse try and pay nothing for a 50 year old vehicle.

Re: Wrecked my Jimmy today

Wow. that is hard to see such a great looking truck in that condition. Best thing is your not hurt. The Jimmy is a "thing" that will require time and $$ and a fair amount of determination to bring back but it is do-able. Good luck in the process with the insurance companies involved and the re-build.

If you don't mind sharing, who are you presently insured with ? Did you have an actual appraisal done to determine the $30,000 value?

Re: Wrecked my Jimmy today

Read my thread from several years back about having insurance company contact the state and totaling my blazer. I had no say after damage exceeded 60% of value in Nevada

I have state farm classic car insurance and they will pay the money up front so I can get started on restoring it now and I don't have to wait on the other insurance company state farm will deal with the other insurance.

When I wanted to raise my insurance from 15,000 to 30,000 my agent that I have had for 30 years said for that much he would have to to pictures of it for his records
He looked and said their would be no problem. State farm has all was treated me good no complaints.
