PCV Question: 327
My (new) 1970 has a rebuilt 327. The Rochester was old and tired so I swapped in my new fave: The Street Demon.
The existing PCV setup has this cannister between the Carb and Filter. It doesn’t fit exactly flush with the new carb without a spacer mod or other workarounds. My question for you Fellas is: Would I be making a mistake by just putting in a standard GM small block PCV and running to a vaccum - or is this Cannister Combo setup mandatory for the 327? Its my first 327 and I wanna make sure I treat her right. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: PCV Question: 327
The part we are looking at there is the fresh air intake for the crankcase. So the PCV valve will be in the other cover. The intake (fresh air) is usually in the back hole of that cover. In a couple of my trucks (big block) I changed the riser to a later model (thinner)and got creative with the tube to the riser from the cover. Either way for the PCV to work correctly it will need filtered air from somewhere.. Where is the PCV valve right now? plus I see no 3/8'' port for it in the base plate of the carb

Re: PCV Question: 327
What you see is the same set up with the Rochester. Only thing missing from pic is air cleaner mounted on top of cannister.
My other 350 just has a PCV going from valve cover to direct vaccum off Demon. I’m just curous if I can do the same here with a 327. I’ll post new pics of the 350 PCV setup and 327 with filter mounted. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: PCV Question: 327
Make your hose longer. You can find couplers in the hardware store plumbing section. Add a new length of hose and rotate the riser and hose to where it fits better.

So…if just getting a new PCV and routing to a vaccum is not an option, I guess I’ll just stick with the canister setup. Tried flipping valve cover and that’d be a layup with an easy fit, but they’re glued down with cork…was wishing they were FEL PRO but that’s my luck lately.
Thx Fellas. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: PCV Question: 327
You only need one pcv valve.
You got one already on drivers side. Maybe a breather on the other is all you need. Like this. https://www.competitionproducts.com/.../#.YN-5IS1fOfA What year is your 327? |

Re: PCV Question: 327
You can copy the other one.
All you need is a pcv in one cover and an air supply in the other cover. I asked your 327 year because some 327’s had a road draft tube cap that the pcv hooked up to. That cap is right beside the distributor. |
