WTB - Power Steering Pulley

I have a '72 Jimmy 2wd with a 350, 700R4 A/C

I believe I am looking for a single groove press on style power steering pulley that will be used with the stock power steering pump brackets.

I believe the pulley part number is - 14023176DF

Those that are more knowledgeable on this subject, please do not hesitate to educate me. I want to get this right the first time.

Thank you,
Bob

Re: WTB - Power Steering Pulley

That p/n comes back as a marine pulley. There are 2 types of pumps/pulleys; one uses a nut to retain the pulley and one is a press-on style. I have one of each type but I don't know if they will work for you. Can you tell me which type you need and measure the offset (front of pulley hub to center of groove)?

Since I am adding power steering to my GMC I don't have an existing setup.

I do know that I need a press on style.

I am hoping to find a stock pulley from a similar '72 Chevy / GMC with a Small Block and A/C.

Thank you,
Bob

Re: WTB - Power Steering Pulley

The stock set up for a 72 swp should not be a press on style, as far as I know, they were all the key way style 67-72.

I guess since I am replacing the pump also I can go either way (key way or Press on styles), but think I would rather use the press on style since I bought a pulley puller and installer.

Any other places to buy the pulley I need? I'll check eBay too.

Thank you

Re: WTB - Power Steering Pulley

Check part number: 3993325

I was tracking this PS pulley on Ebay a while back:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-1972-Ch...vip=true&rt=nc

It sold and I missed out on it. It does have some good pictures and measurements that may help.

They do show up on ebay from time to time. If that part number is what you need, you can setup a search on ebay and be notified daily of any items meeting that part number/keyword.

Tom,
Do you have a picture of a power steering setup from a '72?

I hope the power steering brackets I have are the correct ones now that the pulley style I thought I needed has changed.

Thank you.

I would like to see if they are the same as 2wd brackets and pulley.

Thank you.

Re: WTB - Power Steering Pulley

Thank you, but I think I may have found a complete set of brackets and pulley.

I have what I think is a newer set of brackets, but not sure they would work for a short water pump. So finding a complete set of brackets and pulley takes the mystery out of getting this set up and working is what I am looking to do.

Thanks again,
Bob
