If it had originally been built with a 454, it would have had a full-float rear axle. This one only has a semi-float axle, so it must have been built with a small block or a diesel.

That's my understanding, at least.

Okay, well the underhood picture just looked like wide (BB) valve covers.

And yeah in my mind a semi float just isn't a real 3/4 ton.
