Re: 04 rocker panel replacement

Take a look at Mill Supply.
https://www.millsupply.com/auto-body...pickup-sierra/

The slip over panels are 22ga. 22ga is miserable to weld on a good day and they don't have any of the base of the A, B, & C pillar sections that commonly rot away on vehicles.
The OE panels from Mill Supply don't state what gauge steel they use. I would request clarification on that before purchase.

There are commercial crash part suppliers that you may be able to purchase from. If Mill Supply doesn't use 18ga steel for their OE style rocker repair panels I would do some leg work. Talk to some body shops about who they purchase decent quality repair panels from. Worst case they tell you to take a hike.

Re: 04 rocker panel replacement

Not a recommendation but I have used these myself twice and they worked out well, took some trimming for a great fit, but went in ok.

I would suggest you give them a call before ordering to check the gauge of the replacement panels...

Re: 04 rocker panel replacement

I ended up using Keystone brand. I purchased lefts and rights from Craigslist. They were taking up space on the shelf of the seller. By the looks of the cardboard they came in, they had been there a while.

I don't know what the gauge was, but the steel was thicker than the originals I cut out. And they fit like a glove too.

Re: 04 rocker panel replacement

It was two plus years ago when I was looking.
GM has no offering for just the rocker you have to buy the whole aperture!
Mills Supply makes pretty good panels a lot of them are galvanized too.

Re: 04 rocker panel replacement

You want to be careful of welding on galvanized parts.
Usually their weld in sections are E-coated.
