Installing stereo speakers

What kind of stereo system do you have in your burbs? I'm going to be hunting for a system and was wanting to have a good idea as to what to look for.
Do you have speakers in the doors? floors--where? in the headlining (roof), in the back? I'm looking for something that will sound pretty good going down the highway.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Installing stereo speakers

Would I be overdoing it if I put 6 speakers in? 2 in the front, 2 in the back and 2 in the very back?

Re: Installing stereo speakers

I'm working on my speaker system now. I have two in the front, 2 in the second row, and 2 eight inch subwoofers in front of the 3 rd row, custom boxes in the quarter panels. I will have 2 6X9 speakers in the very back, with retractable wires so that I can bring them out for tailgate parties. the 6X9 will NOT be on when the main system is on. only by themselves. I think/was told that putting speakers in the very back (other than a subwoofer) would disrupt the sound you want (2 fronts and 4 rears) the 4 rears will not have the same "timing" and will muddle.

Al.

Re: Installing stereo speakers

Thanks for all the pictures and threads links. IAFF2407--man I love that burb and love to do with mine what you have done with yours. Frizzle Fry--you must be a genius to do that to a radio. I can understand Hebrew and Greek better than what you have done. But I appreciate seeing what you did to your radio, it really rocks!
