Re: Ads on the site

Oh "they" are sure watching us alright. Check this out.
A few days ago my sister asked my wife if we used a certain stomach med. She had extra and didn't want to throw them out. We had never heard of it so I guess my wife googled it on her phone just to see what it is. Well, a few days after an ad popped up on my laptop for that particular brand med. It certainly never has been searched on my devices, nor any other stomach meds for that matter.
Since our internet and cell phones are both served by Verizon that has to be the connection. She googled it and I got the ad, front page on MSN.
You better be careful what you google. Your wife may already know what you are looking at.

I got one on this very site. A women's soccer team pulling down their pants and showing off their tarantulas. I don't know how I got that. I don't even watch soccer.

Take a closer look, Paul. Believe it or not, their tarantulas are covered up.... by clothing that's made to look like tarantulas.

It got mysteriously "fixed"!

I never wanted one of those kid's talking toys in the house either like those furbys or something like that. Dern things would just shout out words or phrases in a room all by itself. A l e x a type things? NO WAY. Same for baby monitors. We have all heard horror stories about those and bedroom cams being hacked and turned on us.

Well, I see that this has been moved and labeled resolved, but it has not. I'm still getting ads at the top of the page now. Nice looking gazebos, but Still google ads. Not the annoying pop ups though.

Those ads have been on the top.of the site for 15+ years. So yeah the popup/vignettes have been removed and the ads are back to how they used to be.

Josh, I'm still getting the pop up ads. Sometimes they're in the avatar area of the post or in the text area of the post. Sometimes both. Liz suggested to get a screen shot. My girlfriend or me can't get my phone to get a screen shot..

Everything I am using is the same as I have been using for several years - including the same laptop and google chrome. I was thinking about prior to becoming a member, I remember seeing ads that might have been like this. After becoming a member they went away if I remember correctly.

Do you have ads at the top of the forum like I screen shot above? My pop-ups went away too, but now I have these.

Re: Ads on the site

I always had the banner ad at the top. It seems a little bigger than I remember, but I can live with that. It was the pop ups that irritated me. Josh and Liz have a lot on their plates right now. I respect that, and the pop ups are gone for me. Thus I'm happy enough.

I totally agree with you! The pop ups were very annoying and I really appreciate the work from Josh and Liz to get rid of them!!! Thank you!
