Removing dash bezel - Question?

I am changing my dash bezel for a new reproduction one. Last time I took my dash bezel out, I had a hell of a time getting the headlight knob out. Is there a release for the headlight knob rod behind the dash bezel, or do you just pull hard until it releases. I don't want to break anything.

feel up in there and the back of the headlight switch is like a box, right on top there is a button, push the button, hold it down, and pull it out. good luck, Ben

Thanks bens86, I thought that there must be a release for it somewhere. Appreciate the good info.

one other thing. You can't push the button down unless the knob has been pulled out one click (I believe) then hold it down and pull out the knob/shaft. Don't forget to diconnect battery
