another shock question for a gmc short bed

Hello forum. I have a 1966 gmc short bed. It has the Dana 44/354 rear end. It has 11 inch drums all round with the wide drums in rear (not like C10's). It has 8 leafs per side.
Question: as I begin to look into new shocks, I don't know whether to order for a light of heavy half. I was recommended to get Monroe Sensa Trac but the mail order folks show those listed for 1500 series (3/4 ton). Do I have a 3/4 ton?
I was about to order KYB Excel - G for front and those are listed under light duty trucks. Whatever type i get for front I will eventually get same brand and category for rear.
FYI: I am looking for a shock that dampens well but does not stiffen the ride. Thanks for feedback.
